Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
I have the same as both you and Robert: no audio, which is strange since PCM audio is of course rock solid .wav format. Moreover, I have inserted the clip in both Cyberlink Power Director 16 and Adobe Premiere Elements 14 and the audio plays in both with no problems.
The only thing I can think of is that VS might be looking for AAC audio which is what is normally associated with video with those properties. But I still can't see it not being able to recognize and play PCM/wav audio. PD 16, by the way, shows the audio properties as being mono .wav.
EDIT: I just opened VS X10.5. The clip shows "no audio" in that too.

Hi Ken
I have no problems using the sample in X10.5, shows properties ok, although as mono and plays ok.
For me It is only 2018 that is giving problems.

What problems did you have using CVSX8? that program will install and does work on Windows 10 platform.

No audio problem on my 19.2, but look at the strange time counter
But once I right click for properties VS crashes.

Asik
The time counter is displaying the Project Properties settings, the sample did not activate Show Messages so did not update the PP which is set to the last clip you used at 50fps.
For Mov video I would set the project properties using similar settings but use Mpeg4.

Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
As always you are correct...
I don't know why the project was set at 50fps.
**Another stupid VS culprit that the fps isn't clearly shown at top right.
(I asked for that years ago,
"why to use 5 hours productively if we can waste 200hours" ...)

Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
Trevor,
My laptop was originally Win8 upgraded to 10. CVSX8 worked well on Win8 and even when upgraded but laptop memory crashed and was installed with new RAM & reset with Win10 and the software would not work. My VSP's would not load and I panicked because if I couldn't edit them then I would have to start from scratch. Also, the X8 software box says is for Win 7 & 8 and so I purchased new VS software for Win10.
Thanks,
Bernadette

Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
I agree with Robert, VS has not handled PCM audio ever. I tried this file with X9 and it also does not have audio. What I have been doing is converting any video files with PCM audio to mp4 using Format Factory. Any other converter should work until VS begins to handle PCM audio.
EDIT: Can't make a profile based on the video file in X9, nor in 2018

Hi Al
It is ridicules that we get different results, seems to be part of the course using 2018.
I have no problems using that video file with any Video Studio other than 2018.
My earlier post with image of video properties was taken from X9.
Asik does not have a problem with the sample using X9.2, he also has audio.

Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
Can you make a video profile with that video file, Trevor?
I agree that I have no idea what is missing in my system that does not allow to get PCM audio to play in VS, it plays in VLC and Windows Media Player, BTW. Why does Robert show the list of acceptable audio files by VS and PCM is not listed?
EDIT: Try https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YgHo1 ... n6VWRQcTa9 which gets no audio in VS2018, X9, even Windows Media Player gets no audio. VLC, Format Factory, Prodrenalin handle the video fine.

Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
But as I said above, PCM or LPCM is just the formal name for the .wav format. And VS has been able to handle that from the year dot. Before Dolby came on the scene, we had no real choice in early VS versions than (L)PCM and it was designated that way in VS Properties though the extension used was .wav. And as I also noted above, Cyberlink Power Director shows the audio on this problem clip as being .wav and plays it.aljimenez wrote:I agree with Robert, VS has not handled PCM audio ever.
I have, however, been wondering whether it is the Little Endian codec for PCM/wav which might be the culprit here.

Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
Hello all,
I contacted Corel support yesterday and their reply was for me to send them a dxdiag report. So, I just did and now it's a waiting game. If you come up with a solution, let me know!
Thanks so much,
Bernadette

Re: VS Pro2018 .MOV Audio
Hi Al
First your sample, Video Studio (all versions) does not recognise the audio stream ADPCM, I do not recognise the AD bit?
Make a profile, you mean an exact copy, Not exactly but using Movie Profile Manager allowed me to Add to copy the properties as:-
QuickTime Movie Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 23.976 fps
Frame-based
H.264
50% Quality, 24 Key Frame Rate
None, 12.000 KHz, 8 bits, Mono
Rendering changed the audio to Mpeg4 type.
Video Studio supports SWF yet we cannot render to SWF.
I do not think there is a problem to play Little Endian, no more than the Mono setting.
My canon videos use Little Endian stereo, no problems except I cannot render to Little Endian.
No same as first clip and no Show Messages as we cannot set PP to Mov
But then my output would not be Mov but Mpeg4 or MTS?
LPCM has always been supported, try DVD , MPEG2, burn a disc using the default settings, audio uses LPCM
Oh
I have K-Lyte Codec pack installed, if that makes a difference?
