VS2018 - "Corrupt video file cannot be dropped"

Post by tletter »

Since X5 I've been dragging and dropping images onto the timeline without any trouble. However, now in VS2018 if I drop an image and then try to drop another image on the timeline, an error message is thrown stating "Corrupt video file cannot be dropped". Before a second file can be dropped, the timeline must be clicked on. This is an annoying bug that was introduced in VS2018.

That's curious. Do you have anything else e.g. video clips, in the timeline as well as the images, or is it just a slide show you're making? And does the message appear all through the project or just after a certain time or certain number of images have been dragged and dropped?

I ask because I've just dragged a random 8 jpegs into the timeline with no message or problem.

Yes if you drag and drop multiple image onto the timeline at the SAME time, you'll not see an error message. To illustrate the bug, I created a new project and dragged and dropped the 1st and only image onto the timeline but when I tried to drag and drop a 2nd image, the following error message popped up, which never happened before VS2018:

Sorry, cannot reproduce your error
Created new project
dragged an image onto the timeline
dragged 2nd image onto timeline
dragged 3rd image onto timeline

did not matter how many images I dragged onto the timeline, singularly or multiple, I could not produce your error

Perhaps there is something wrong with that photo file you are trying to drop on the timeline?

What are the project properties?

Can you share your two images in some cloud drive so some forum members can try to replicate your problem?

Just to clarify, I dragged my images in one by one, not in a group. No error message.
