Split by scene sensitivity

Post by masterjaz_99 »

Hello All,

Things would be great if I could have VideoStudio do one little thing. Here it is: I have a wonderful Home Theater PC set up that records all sorts of good shows. I would like to be able to quickly remove any commercials. This would be easy in that most commerical breaks are preceeded by a black or white screen (always 100%). So, if I could split the recorded video based on these black or white screens I could easily remove the commercials

Now the problem: VideoStudio 7 has a 'split by scene' function by even at 0 sensitivity, it still finds literally 100's of scene changes especially during action sequences and camera angle changes.

So does anyone have a work around or another piece of software that can perform this basic task? I am dying to get this working, as it would be the culmination of lots of hard work and tinkering.

Thanks in advance,

Masterjaz

I think the behavior of the slider is backwards, try setting the sensitivity to 100% or 99%.

Thanks for the hint THoff, but I believe I tested it at both extremes with no success. I'm going to try it one more time and then I'll update forum members.

The slider seems to have very little affect on the sensitivity, but 0 is less sensitive and 100 is more sensitive. How it responds depends a great deal on the clip!

I would also like to see a black level scan method. To make it more efficient allow X-number of frames of black.
