Your VSP works fine in VS2018 even when I add your photos again to give a total of 74 photos with P&Z applied.

I also have no trouble at all playing that entire project, with its 55 photos plus jpeg title, through to the end without the slightest hesitation, much less crash. I also added extra photos at the end, again with no effect on playback. My computer specs are under my avatar.

There was never a problem in playing it back. I could add hundreds of photos and it would play with no freeze or problem. It was customizing the pan zoom on each picture again. It fails doing that, not playing it. I went back in and started at photo 1 and did and auto pan zoom and then went in and customized the pan zoom. Nothing fancy or even that looked smooth. I then went to photo 2 and did the same. Etc. This time I only got to photo 32 and VS stopped working versus photo 37 the first time. I knew it VS was going to fail because Pandora abruptly quit playing and when I clicked OK to the custom pan/zoom I got a spinning circle above the OK button for about a second, the screen flashed black, but VS2018 showed back up so I just unloaded the project.

This time I only got to photo 32 and VS stopped working versus photo 37 the first time.

I'm working on a project with over 500 photos each of which have P&Z customized. VS2018 is not crashing when I add new photos and customize P&Z.

Hi

Trying to replicate Mikes workflow I first removed the Pan and Zoom effect from all images with the intention of adding then one at a time.
I then saved the project giving it a new name.
When trying to open this Project Video Studio crashes
Repeated the process a few times using my own images (over 100) and the program also crashed.

Using a few sample images there was no crash, so maybe related to the amount of images used.

I cannot say if this is related to Mikes problems but if this can be replicated I will escalate to Corel.

What I did

1 / open Mikes project
2 / remove P and Z from first clip
3 / Copy Attributes from first clip.
4 / Ctrl A will select all clips
5 / Paste all Attributes to selection
6 / Save project giving it a new name
7 / Close project.
8 / Open project – progress bar stalls, program crashes.

Hi Mike

I have worked extensively on your images, applying pan and zoom, customise to all your images.
No indication of a crash as the other posters have confirmed.
I can only assume there is a problem with your environment.
Can you check your graphics driver?
Do not use Device Manager as that will almost certainly say you are using the latest drivers.
Go to the manufacturers web site and let them check your system.
Your profile does not indicate details of any graphics / video card or motherboard.

If you do not have a separate graphics card then it will be part of the motherboard.

If you feel you are running the latest drivers it is still worth the effort to double check.

We purchased a brand new laptop, a few years ago now, it did not perform well, unbelievably
the manufacturers recommended a new driver, go figure a new pc needing a new driver?
And just to rub it in the laptop started misbehaving yet again, used by my wife she is not that concerned so long as it boots up, I first suspected a virus.
Again a graphics driver recommended by the manufacturers cured the problems, that was last week.

Trevor - Early in the trouble shooting process, I did all you suggest regarding the latest graphics driver from the manufacturer's (AMD) website. Also went to the computer manufacturer website (Lenovo) and used their diagnostic processes to check the computer and its related hardware. No problems in either case. All latest updates available have been installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled. From prior posts on my part, this VS crashing did not happen with VSx7. Neither do any problems/crashes/freezes occur with any other software I run. Unfortunately, the conflict on my computer between Win 10 and VS2018 might just remain a mystery. When I do work on my next project, I will just watch closely for the impending VS2018 crash at, or near customizing pan/zoom of photo 30. This is not something I like but I am too committed to VS to start over and try another software package. Thanks to all forum users for their suggestions and attempts to help. I appreciate the community's involvement in sharing their experience. I just kept hoping that someone had had the same problem and had discovered a specific solution. Such is life and Onward.

Trevor - New Info - Yesterday I saw that AMD had provided updated graphic drivers for my computer. So I downloaded/installed the latest. I then hopefully, did customizing pan/zoom on my test project. At the 33 photo, same old problem. Pandora quit playing, VS2018 froze and then unloaded itself. I immediately went to Windows Event Viewer. I looked in Windows Logs, Application -- the only listings were Information. I then looked in Windows Logs, System (this was the first time I looked here) -- at the time of the VS2018 crash I found a WARNING and an ERROR. I have attached screen prints. It seems to indicate a virtual memory problem. If you are inclined to take a look at the attachments for exact wording, it sure seems VS2018 is buggy because the WARNING message said (and I paraphrase) the following programs consumed the most virtual memory - vstudio.exe (14146) 45,547,356,160 bytes -- vsserv.exe (1868) 440,270,848 bytes-- amddvr.exe (10832) 197,926,912 bytes. I find it hard to believe (incredible really) that at the 33rd photo of customizing pan/zoom vstudio.exe and vsserv.exe would be requiring 46GB of virtual memory. Something seems to be stacking up and accumulating - to the point that Win 10 hits some sort of a limit and VS2018 (and Pandora) crashes. I dont have enough computer expertise to understand the intricacies of how VS218 loads memory and uses virtual memory but something does not seem right. I have my virtual memory set so that Win 10 auto manages it.

It is very strange that only you are seeing this issue which would point to your environment.
Like you I do not know enough about , as you say “ enough computer expertise to understand the intricacies of how VS218 loads memory and uses virtual memory”
You have 12 Gb of ram, I only have 8 Gb, yet through my efforts I cannot replicate this failure.

I am at a total loss as to what to suggest next.
I would try a clean install, although I assume you have done that without trawling through the older posts.
Use the Cleanup tool to uninstall.
More times than not re-installing would fix most things assuming VS is to blame?

Hate to relight old threads but did anyone ever find a solution to this? I bought VS2018 today to replace 7. I have the exact same problem. When I am adding custom direction to P&Z, my commit charge fills up and eventually VS crashes. Was there a solution to this?

I have a similar problem after installing VS2018. When going into the Pan & Zoom option on the timeline toolbar, I am able to customise a clip once, but whenever I subsequently try to go back in the program usually hesitates without bringing up the dialogue window, then closes the program althogether and I am back at windows desktop. I have tried to see if this specific to certain file types - it isn't as happens on both Mp4 and Mov files. There is noting in my computer event log linked to this. Any ideas?

Guys I have just tested Pan and Zoom and cannot replicate any problems
We can access P&Z from the toolbar immediately above the timelines (third icon from right)
Or from the options panel – edit tab – selecting the radio button then Customise, we can also add a preset P&Z, but I have tried all options.

I have been using a jpeg image and a WMV or Mp4 samples
Could this be associated with the type of clips you are using, andy you indicate no....

But can you give more details as to your approach also say what type of clips you are using.
For video provide some properties, right click clip and choose properties

If you use the libraries samples SP-V01 and SP-I01.jpg do you have problems
If I have more to go on I will try again to replicate this issue.

Thanks for the reply. I have just gone back into VS2018 and an update has installed, so I will let that go through and then give it another try.
