I've been trying to use the NewBlue PIP plug-in in VSP 10.
When trying to use any of the presets that feature a reflection, the reflection does not have the transparency fade. The image is mirrored, but there is no transparency. Adjusting fade out or any other parameters will affect the size or position, but the mirrored reflection remains 100% opaque.
Using or adjusting the VSP chroma key does not affect it either.
The same effect works properly in VSP 7, which is also on that computer, as well as in 9.5 on a different computer. I have not installed or tried VSP 2018 yet, so I have no idea if the problem continues forward.
I've tried reinstalling 10, the updates and plugins, and there's no difference. 10 has also had a nasty tendency to crash when adding a video clip as the first event on the timeline. I've had to fix that several times by deleting all temp files, and reinstalling the program.
Would someone with 10 kindly try the effect and see if you can reproduce the problem? I'd like to see if it's related to something on this particular install.
Thanks, and much appreciated.
Tom

Here's a screen grab. Note the effect looks correct in the NB preview window, but not in VSP 10.

I've never used those reflective presets before, but now that I have tried, I get the same as you, regardless of how far I move the opacity or fade controls. The NB preview screen shows the correct effect, but this does not happen in the VS preview. And I'm afraid it is the same in both VS X10 and VS 2018.

Thanks for verifying, Ken. Looks like something got broken after V9.5.
I'll stick with 7 for the duration of this project. Not sure if other plugins were affected or not. This particular one is perfect for an effect in a dance recital promo video I'm working on.
Guess at some point I need to submit this somewhere as a bug report. Haven't submitted one before, but I assume there's a place to do so here and not with NewBlue.

Ken it looks liked I've solved my own mystery. I apparently missed a step when applying the effect.
After adding the NewBlue PIP, you MUST add a full screen mask to make the effect work properly. What I don't understand is why I didn't catch this while playing around. I need to do some more investigating.
My bad . . . . .

Mine as well. Funnily enough, while playing around with the filter, I recalled that some NB FX required a mask, but I didn't try that. So slap my wrist as well!

The weird thing is that earlier I went back and applied the effect in 7 and 9, and it did seem to work properly without applying the mask. Don't know what was different. Perhaps it had something to do with the file type or which track I added the clip or photo. As I said, I need to backtrack and investigate. just plain brain dead from editing all week, i guess.
