How to change the 'zero point (0)' for rulers?

Post by john crago »

I've recently installed PSP 2018 and thought it might provide an easy way to re-set the zero point for the horizontal and vertical rulers.

In most versions of Photoshop it is simply a matter of click and drag the left hand corner square at the junction of both rulers to wherever you want the new ruler settings to be.

This provides a really handy, easy way to re-set the rulers when you want to measure Height/Width of an object.

Possibly this facility exists within PSP 2018, but I have been unable to find it.

If this can be done, I'd appreciate any advice :-)

If your goal is to measure distances on the image one way is to use 'guides'. From the left margin click in the ruler area and hold, then drag into the image and place it where you want it. Then do the same thing again. In the horizontal ruler area there are now two small rectangles, one for each of the guide lines. If you right click on the rectangle it tells you the pixel number at which the guide is placed, so if you look at both pixel locations and subtract you get the distance in pixels (or inches, cm, depending on what the ruler is set to). The same applies vertically by clicking in the top margin ruler and dragging from there. AFAIK you can create as many guides as you like in either dimension.
