The point is that 2 of us do not have a problem with the video file, Charles are you saying that the sample crashes your program.
If I can prove it is a Video Studio fault then I would escalate to corel support.
Converting to another codec is just a workround and does not address the actual problem.
No, I'm not saying the sample crashes my program.
I examined it with Mediainfo. I don't see anything unusual about it. It is 8-bit 4-2-0 long GOP AVC, like my cell phone and every camera I own, all of which VS can handle.
I don't have VS 2018, but I can't make the sample crash in VS 9 on my laptop or VS 10 on my desktop computer.
I'm running Windows 10 on both machines and don't have Quicktime installed on either.
I notice the OP is using Windows 7 starter edition, which is the first thing I would consider in troubleshooting. I would go on eBay and look for an inexpensive upgrade.
Meanwhile I'm offering a suggestion without drawing conclusions as to the cause of the problem. Cineform allows more refined tweaking of 8-bit source material. In this case it might also get around whatever problem is causing the OP's camera output to crash VS on his particular system.
