Hi guys !
I need to make a mask and I cannot zoom in a still image to make a cleaner job.
Tried the + button, mouse wheel, using smart mask / eraser. Nothing seems to work well. Best would be to zoom in and scrub manually, is it me or Videostudio 2018 doesn't have that feature ?
Thanks !

Re: Zoom in mask editor
I'm not very clear on what you are attempting to do. Perhaps a short storyboard might help?
However, if it helps, it is possible to create a hi-res mask and use that to help with a sharper edge, then use something such as the Picture-in-picture FX to zoom the whole image?
It might be necessary for you to create a video mask. Within the video, you would be free to manipulate the mask however you wish.

Re: Zoom in mask editor
Thanks for your input, I'll rephrase.
I am trying to make an intro video where, at some point, the subject will contrast out of a duotone filter. For that, I used the mask editor on the subject at the segment I need it to happen (it's a still image for about 3 seconds).
So when I open the mask creator I only have the small window to work with, I cannot have it at least full screen or zoom closer so I can make a sharper mask.
I will check on the Hi-res mask, haven't seen that option.

Re: Zoom in mask editor
Hello Slapierre,
The Mask Creator doesn't allow you to get in to ask much fine detail as I would personally like. It's too easy to have edges which you don't want.
If you are able to re-shoot the footage, I would highly recommend the use of a green screen, with suitable lighting. The Chrome Key feature will give you a far better result. In case you've not used a green screen before, it's important to light it well, but evenly. The subject will also need lighting properly too.
Another way to do this would be to use some software to extract all the individual frames from the video you are working on. The use a photo editor, such as PaintShop Pro, to create a mask from each individual image. Save all the individual files into a single folder, then use the Stop Motion feature in VideoStudio to create a new video from all the stills.
I downloaded 'Free Video to JPG Converter' yesterday to allow me to extract the images from some videos. It's easy to use and the results are good.

Re: Zoom in mask editor
Hi Slapierre
Can you confirm you are trying to create a mask on an image or video.
You mention an image in one of your posts.
If so then as Scubbie advises use an image editor to remove the background
At least you will be able to zoom in to create an accurate mask
The image can be saved as a PNG, effectively creating your own mask.
If you can take a screen shot of your project before and after the mask, maybe we will have a better idea as to the effect you are trying to make.

Re: Zoom in mask editor
I confirm that it is for an image, I used the "Freeze Frame" and adjusted to the length needed. I will try using an image software as mentioned. I am familiar with photoscape and I think I could make it work through it. Thanks for putting this up! I cannot use green screen as any footage will be done in forest and such. It's for an hunting show.
I cannot upload a picture but here's the project I am working on. The part I was talking about is between 0:22 and 0:26.
