psp 2018 layers palette not available (f8 visible?)
I haven't had 2018 too long but long enough to have used layers. However, on these particula two files I need to have the layers function but cannot get the layers palette to display by using F8. Yes, the filetypes are *.pspimage.

It works fine for me. Have you tried using View>Palettes and selecting Layers?fatfreek wrote:I haven't had 2018 too long but long enough to have used layers. Also, you don't need to have any images open in the workspace to have the Layers palette visible, whether layered (.pspimage) or any other format.

To Jean-Luc:
I tried your tip to reset all palette prefs, deleted the ones not wanted but still no layers palette.
I'm going to load some existing already edited files that if know have layers, and see if the palette is there. Then, load my current files to see if that doesn't reset things properly.

That didn't help.I'm going to load some existing already edited files that if know have layers, and see if the palette is there. Then, load my current files to see if that doesn't reset things properly.
Here's what worked. I closed 2018 down, launched X8 (patting myself on the back for not uninstalling it) and layers are working like they should.
Unless I get help here, I will probably uninstall 2018, and try to get my money back, hoping that the next version works properly.

Re: psp 2018 layers palette not available (f8 visible?)
As I said in my reply above, whether or not the Layers palette can be made visible does not depend on there being any images open in the workspace, layered or not. It is no different in that regard than a palette like the Materials palette, which is visible whether or not there is an image loaded in the workspace.fatfreek wrote:I'm going to load some existing already edited files that if know have layers, and see if the palette is there. Re: psp 2018 layers palette not available (f8 visible?)
As Joe has mentioned , the layers palette can be visible without an image loaded:
Note the Auto Hide button which may have been applied so that whet you may see is:
So just check if that is the case.
You might also go to View > Palettes and tick each palette in turn, then go to View > Toolbars and in turn untick all toolbars.
Now go back to View > Palettes and untick each one except the Layers palette so that you have the most basic workspace and then check your workspace while hitting F8 to toggle between Layers Palette on and Layers Palette off.
Look for any changes.

Re: psp 2018 layers palette not available (f8 visible?)
Layers work properly in 2018. There is no bug in that area.fatfreek wrote:Unless I get help here, I will probably uninstall 2018, and try to get my money back, hoping that the next version works properly.
Try to reset 2018 (not uninstalling). The reset is done by maintaining Shift key down when launching PSP 2018 until it asks if you want to reset.
Say yes.
You will need to recreate the Preferences.
Workspace will be set "as new".
Your documents will be preserved.
Don't load a workspace from a previous version ! This will generate display problems.
Are you in Essentials or Complete workspace in PSP 2018 ?
A complete screen capture of your screen could perhaps help us to see what could be wrong...

Are you by chance in the Essentials Workspace? If so, switch to Complete and I think you will be able to access the Layers palette.
