Add selective colour to image

I am trying to work through a Corel tutorial called Adding Drama with Selective Colour, link is below.

I get as far as the image above the words”To select an area that contains multiple colors, try dragging the mouse. The bride’s entire dress, as well as arms and face, were selected after dragging along a curve from foot to head.)
I also get exactly the same marquee selection on 1st attempt as that image shows, but when I release the mouse, the selection changes as shown in my image below. Am I doing something wrong, incomplete, or is this just something I do not understand.

Try checking that your feather is 0, a large feather will give you a lot of extra material selected.

Thanks for that Hartpaul, reducing the feather to zero solved the problem
