Post by Kazan »

I have windows10 64 bits, I have videostudio X10 and videostudio2018 installed on my PC. I click to load the update: OK.
then the next message I got is: Corel VideoStudio is running in the background. At that time I may cancel or try again. I tried again but no luck then I canceled. I tried several times with the same problem. Then what ??????

What version of VS 2018 do you have (check in Help > About)? The fully updated version is 21.2.0.113.

Unfortunately, Corel appear to have stopped publishing updates on Corel.com or videostudiopro.com. I went through much the same process as you have, though I was a bit more patient and eventually the update installation dialogue seemed to appear out of nowhere,

The other way you can get it is to go back to your original download, which should have appeared as a folder on your desktop. It should contain the original setup.exe stub file. Run that. It will come up with the same routine you had when you first installed 2018 and offering to download/install everything -- main program, bonus features etc. But importantly, at the bottom of the list, it includes Updates. Make sure you tick the box that tells the program to only download and install those things which are not already installed i.e. the latest update. When you hit OK it should then start downloading the update, and installing it. So try that...

This was also covered in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63451
and for the moment here's a lonngggg delay between download and installing updates via the Help/check for updates method from a VS 2018 sp1 base. Glus corel's user liaison has advised Development but when and how a fix might be made is not apparent. That's also in the referenced thread. For the moment, Ken's approach may be better if there isn't any success in the 'wait it out' technique I and other used (see the referenced thread).

I opened the Corel VideoStudio 2018 folder. At the end of the list the SP2 update is displayed has not installed. I clicked to install. It works perfect and my Studio version is: V21.2.0.113 as it should.

Thank You for your help

Interesting. The remarks by Kazan led my to investigate my own 2018 folder.
It seems that if you install to a custom folder (in my case, G:\Video Studio Ultimate 2018\), update ignores that and installs into the default C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Corel\VideoStudio2018 drive folder, along with the updater executable.
