In the last time I am having problems with a smooth movement of my videos on the modern TV sets ( UHD and HD). While the final product ( look for eg this https://youtu.be/AZwDq_zzQjU ) is smooth on computers, when I watch them on different HD flat TVs the movement is not always smooth. On some brands it is better on other brands it is worse ( from the same USB stick or from HDD. The format of videos is mp4.)
Is there any option how to test the smoothness on computer?
Thanks
Eugen

Re: VS X10 smoothness
Need to read manual for the TV and pay attention to limits of files they can play. I suspect the bitrate is too high and the TV may not be able to handle the video created. Lower bitrates if you can't find explanation in the TV manuals.

Re: VS X10 smoothness
Thank you. It was also my idea, the recent bitrate is 15kbps, and all 4 TV sets, where I tested my videos, are the newest ones ( max 1,5 y old). Interestingly, my earlier videos do not have this effect. I do not know what does youtube with the uploaded videos but this video played from youtube is correct on my home TV, while played from HDD on several places the frames are jumping.

Re: VS X10 smoothness
Hmmm, maybe the problem could be hdd fragmentation and speed. If your are using WiFi or network, that could be the bottleneck too.
Youtube players are sophisticated; they buffer enough frames so they play smoothly, and they also lower the resolution and bitrates if they sense slow communications.

Re: VS X10 smoothness
I do not know, sometimes it is boring. Time to time I have also the feeling that the video has jerky portions on VS X10, sometimes it helps, when I shorten the scenese by 1-2 frames. After rendering the film is smooth on the PC. When I copy it to my video HDD (there is nothing else just my videos and is usually connected to the UHD TV set the performance is time to time different - usually I see jerky movement in different parts as on VS. Last Friday I visited my friend with a brand new TV set and the same video (this time played from USB stick) was much more jerky as anytime at home.
i noted the most critical portions and later at home I checked the same position on the VS before rendering, it was OK, and the same scenes were also OK after rendering on our TV set.
I see such troubles more in the last 3-4 month. I have a feeling before I had less troubles.

Re: VS X10 smoothness
I have a similar issue. One way I get around it is to increase the frame rate that I work on.
The refresh rate of my TV is higher than is normal for TV broadcasts. It's programmed to handle them because most broadcast images are interlaced. Since I prefer to use progressive videos, I notice the flickering on the TV. Not so much on my laptop.
When I connect my laptop directly to the TV it will work at 60fps. Being in the UK, PAL limits me to 50fps.
My TV will happily work at 50fps, as do my computers. Select 60fps if this is better for where you are and give this a try.
YouTube will happily playback the content at the higher fps for 720p and higher. If the broadband can't cope, it'll deliver it at a lower rate.
