PSP 2018 CLONE TOOL

Am using PSP 2018 clone tool. I want to clone out some writing using the adjacent white blank area below the writing. However, instead the result being white it appears as grey circles. Odd.
What am I doing wrong?

Because we don't know exactly what you're doing it's difficult to know for sure what you are doing wrong. The answer probably lies in the settings for the Clone tool on the Tool Options palette. I'd guess your hardness and/or opacity settings are less than 100%.

Do you have a Texture active ?

To remove writing like that I would use the eyedropper tool to get the color brightness of the white area near the text and then use the paintbrush tool to remove the writing.

If your image is pure black, white and grey, it is a known bug.
Increase colors of the image (it will stay black and white) and you will be able to clone with no defect.

If your image is pure black, white and grey, it is a known bug.
Increase colors of the image (it will stay black and white) and you will be able to clone with no defect.

If it's a known bug, why don't they fix it? That seems as if it would be a major problem to anyone unaware of the bug.

They will fix it later because there is a workaround permitting to do the job (increasing color depth).
