Awful quality of ARW files only when opened with Aftershot

Post by ruben2rl »

Hello,
It's been a few days since I'm trying to figure out why aftershot shows the highlights of my ARW files from my Sony SLT-A57 all burnt. Detail is lost and unrecoverable in the highlights. I've tried changing settings in aftershot, I've changed a A68 camera profile to A57 to see if that helped but it didn't.

I use linux. When I open the same files in UFraw, Raw therapee, or in photoshop or lightroom, there are no problems with the exposure the raw file looks good to start with, with aftershot, the picture can only go to the bin. This is frustrating and surprisingly dissapointing. Can anyone throw some light at this problem?

I've attached diffetent screenshots of the same picture opened with rawtherapee and aftershot before any modifications. the results withe other programs I mentioned are the same. One important thing: when aftershot loads mi ARW for the first time, for a fraction of a second the image looks like in rawtherapee, then aftershot seems to apply something to the image (not my default xmp settings or anything to do with me) that makes the highlights burnt and spoils the image.

Best regards

Can anyone from corel give some thought to my problem please? I'd like to support corel and continue using Aftershot but this problem will stop me from continuing with Aftershot and a solution can help other people too

I have Windows 7, and no issues with my ARW files from my Sony A-57 in Aftershot Pro 3.
