I have VS-X10 and I am thinking of upgrading to VS-2018. If I buy an upgrade, can I uninstall all of the old VS and then install the upgrade or do I need to keep the old version on the computer and do the upgrade? When I upgraded to VS-X10, I left the old version so now I already have 2 versions installed along with all the extra add-on's and programs. I would like to clean out the old versions of everything but still want to buy just the upgrade.
Any advice?
Thanks in Advance.

There is no requirement to have previous versions of VS installed. When you purchase the upgrade it is the full version that you will download, without a previous version installed you will be asked to enter a previous reg key as well as the new key before installation will start

Re: Upgrade VS-X10 to VS2018
The upgrades are the full program. They don't use bits and pieces of earlier versions. On installing the upgrade version it looks for an earlier version or requests the serial number of the earlier version, just to check. Otherwise it is a full installation and you can remove earlier versions if space is becoming an issue.
Some of us here keep various earlier versions, however. Some of us do it because we regularly reply to questions here about earlier versions. Others just to be on the safe side for a while. If they have a problem with the later version, they can save their project to an earlier version format and then open it in that earlier version which they know does not have that problem.

Thank you so much. I assume this will also take care of all the extra's in the Ultimate version, so I can uninstall all of them as well before installing the new VS2018 Ultimate version.

Re: Upgrade VS-X10 to VS2018
When you get a chance, I would appreciate your comments about the extra's that came with VS-X10 Ultimate. Can I uninstall all of them and then install the upgrade to VS-2018 Ultimate and all of it's extra's? I think I should do all the uninstalls first and then install the upgrade but would like your expert opinion before I actually do it. I might wait for a week or so because I am in the middle of a project.

Re: Upgrade VS-X10 to VS2018
Unless you are very, very short of hard drive space, don't uninstall X10 until you are happy with VS2018. Both programs can be installed in your system without any problems.
