I'm playing around with manually drawing a green screen onto an existing video. It's not a perfect science, but I don't need it to be. The problem I encountered is that at some point, the .grf file becomes too large for the host (VideoStudio), so the apply button no longer works. I cannot get a decent video to render directly from the Boris window to save my life (the quality is abysmal), but I also can't apply the filter. The way I see it, I (might) have one of three options:
1. Find a way to reduce the size of the grf file. I don't think this is possible. I've tried shortening the video segment and reapplying the filter settings. I've tried cutting out keyframes from the spline object. It's still too large.
2. Figure out how to render a full high def video directly from the Boris window. Since I can no longer apply the filter settings, rendering the normal way, in VideoStudio is impossible.
3. Figure out how to force VS to accept the larger file.
Anybody ever encounter this? I REALLY don't want to start this project over! It takes HOURS to create just a few seconds (I'm tracing a person)!

I'm almost tempted to suggest that you export the video into individual stills. You could then edit those stills in a photo-editing product (PaintShop Pro would be suitable) to remove the unwanted material.
You could then import all the images using VideoStudio and add a green background to suit.
I would check out at an early point to find out whether you could leave the background blank & save as a .png file or whether you have to add the green background within the photo editing software first.
There is some software available that will extract all the individual frames from a video file. The free version I've used worked well, but was limited to so many frames per second and also to the length of the clip. It gave me a good indication that it works.

Hi Robyn,
Have you tried Free Video to JPG Converter, it is completely free and can convert any length video to frames, I use it to create slow motion video, so much better than the inbuilt apps which add frames and the result are perfectly smooth slow motion video

Re: Boris Graffiti file too large for host
Thank you Robert. I shall look at it.
One reason why I was looking at it in the past was that someone I know does a lot of Photogrammetry. I was also encouraging them to consider videoing something in 4K, but normally it wouldn't be possible to do both at the same time.
Normally such a video wouldn't hold much interest, but for the topic concerned it would be valuable to have both.
