VS X10 is great, but how about Minimize during Render?

Post by windygamer »

I love it. Easy to use. Fast. by which I mean very responsive while editing.
Just upgraded a few weeks ago from x6 or something really old.
I'm doing game captures in 2K and then rendering some in full rez and some as HD. Works fine.
But,...

How about we allow the program to be minimized during long renders? Just a little MINIMIZE button on the rendering popup would do it.
That would allow my 16 processor Ryzen and me to do some other things while it munches along.

Seems pretty obvious and easy, wouldn't you say?

Thanks for a great product at an affordable price,

:wg

Is that the right topic icon for a suggestion? No popup as I mouse over them.

I can understand why you would want such a feature, but you must remember that the majority of users do not have high performance systems and for them, rendering demands very high computer resources to be used and would generally crash the system if trying t o perform other tasks whilst rendering is in progress

Sure. But how is that relevant? This feature is so easy to add and most folks that are doing rendering have at least enough power to do something else while they do it. Any Core I7 from last almost 10 years has plenty of power to be able to go on and do something else while renders are occurring? And even if folks are using some old Core i5 or equiv, why not be able to MINIMIZE the freaking program? Seriously. You are arguing that this is not a reasonable idea? Too much trouble to implement? Seriously?

There is no need for your apparent aggression, I have not stated that your request is unreasonable or would be an issue for Corel to implement, I personally can continue working whilst VS is rendering, but I have two screens, have you thought about adding an additional screen, you can of course, contact Corel Support and request such a feature.

Robert, my system is much humble then you two, and I have no trouble doing something else while VS renders,
like reading a book. Maybe strange habit for gamers

Here are two solutions, assumming you have Windows 10.
1) If the other program you want to run is already running behind VS, switch to it and it will pop up over the rendering VS. Maximize it and you don't even know VS is running behind.

2) Right click on empty portion of the task bar and select Show Desktop. This minimizes the rendering VS along with its pop-up dialog showing its status. Now pick whatever you want to do.

Had forgotten about that method Al, using two monitors for the past 10 years or so has made that method redundant for me

On my Windows 10 PC, I click on the tiny rectangle located in the bottom right corner of your screen.

On my 4K monitor, it's very VERY tiny. A little gray sliver.
While my computer can multitask pretty good, I usually don't do anything while it's rendering. But if I want to, yeah, going back to desktop is simple enough.

I'm the same. On the keyboard, you can also hold on to the Alt key and then hit tab
