I'm using Corel x10.
I can't see if I can change the project properties to my own default settings? I'm having to keep going to PROJECT PROPERTIES and change the project format into DVD for example and pick the one I often use.

Re: Changing Project Properties
You're in the right section. What you should also do is to create new set of properties and give them a unique name.
VS should then keep that setting. Whenever you restart VS it should use the last settings unless you've changed them.
If you drop a clip into the timeline and it asks you if you want to change get them to match the clip, please think about whether to say yes or no. Saying no will keep the project properties as they were before.

Re: Changing Project Properties
I've tested it now and it keeps coming back to this 'online' settings. I've tested both answers yes and no and made no difference. I think previous versions were holding the settings better.

Re: Changing Project Properties
Go to Settings Preferences
Deselect Show Messages should stop prompting you to change/ match properties
Generally one would match the project properties to our video properties
As you are setting to DVD I assume that is your output settings??

Re: Changing Project Properties
I have the same problem with VideoStudio 2018. When a clip is dragged on the timeline, it sets the properties in the video to Online which is a 4:3 format instead of 16:9. I have to reset the project properties to the proper setting, AVCHD, 1440x1080, 16:9 format. Frustrating, as Corel support has no answer but to reset the program setting by deleting the "21" folder. This does not work as I have done this many times.

Re: Changing Project Properties
Hi
If you have approached Corel Support then I assume you have provided them with a video sample.
Can you provide a download link to a sample file.
Where did you acquire the 1440 x 1080 video file, I assume recorded on your camcorder?
In the meantime you should change the options in F6 as my earlier post to deselect Show Messages.
When you complete your project I assume you render to a video file, what do you choose as your output settings?
Post updated
It is clear that Video Studio assumes the video is 4:3 ratio, after all 1440 x 1080 is 4:3, however should be anamorphic and display as 16:9
Have you checked the videos properties using Media Info, a free piece of software that give those details.
