pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
I suddenly started to see that pspimages were not displaying content in Win Explorer, just a blank thumbnail/icon. My strong suspicion was that they were any images that I had modified and saved as pspimage in PSP 2018. I was going over old shots and editing them.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled PSP 2018. Then reinstalled it (32 + 64 bit)
When I used 64 version, nothing happened. When I used the 32 bit, suddenly all pspimage icons in Win Explorer came back.
Does not seem right in either case.

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
This is more than likely a Windows issue. If you do a Google for 'missing thumbnails' you will get many responses.

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
I'm also in the same boat (sinking)... Win 10 fully updated.
Having Sage Thumbviewer installed, all other graphic thumbnails display okay, including PSP 9 files, but nothing will get PSP 2018 to display PSPimage files saved as 2018 files... On any computer.
If I reconfigure the save option to PSP 9 compatible files then after the save the thumbnail displays okay.
I've read the postings at the link Ken gave, but nothing there helps.
Anyone come up with a solution yet?

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
Just a thought (mine display OK on a Win 10 version 1607) , you mention that PSP9 compatible displays OK. Have you tried using that feature to save it for compatibility for each other version through to X9 and see if any of those display OK?arturox wrote:I'm also in the same boat (sinking)... Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
Yes I tested before sending my previous posting...
They thumbnail display okay with saves as Versions 9, 10, 11.
They do Not display with saves as version 12, X2, X3, X4-7 and of course 2018.
My Win 10 version is 1709 Build 16299.309 and PSP 2018 is 20.2.0.1 using 32bit version.
And as noted previously all other graphic filetypes I use show thumbnails.
Specifically:
BMP, PNG, PSD and Tif.

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
I've done some more work this afternoon (UK time).
Sage Thumbs 2.0.0.23 will not and cannot be forced to display PSP 2018 Thumbnails. Well nothing I've tried...
Mystic Thumbs 4.6.1 will display PSP 2018 thumbnails, but will only auto display them if Saved post the Mystic Thumbs install.
However the good news is, if the pre Mystic Thumbs install PSP 2018 thumbnails are selected and "Refreshed" from the Win Explorer Context menu "Thumbnail > Refresh" then all the Pre Mystic Thumbs saved PSP 2018 thumbnails are displayed.
Ax
Supplementary question...
The Thumbnails displayed in the PSP 2018 Organizer tray... How can the filenames be displayed under the thumbnails?
As it is here, it displays with a film strip of thumbnails but no names?

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
Thanks for the answer to the tray thumbnail names.
Back to the thread.
Continuing from what I wrote earlier, in that the PSPimage file thumbnails now display in Win Explorer, there is however a bummer note, now the psd thumbnails will not display in Win Explorer.
Being completely new to this utility, maybe there's some config in Mystic Thumbs I've not yet done?

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
Well as per usual, about a minute after my last posting some mysterious force comes into play and...
I went back into Mystic Thumbs and fiddled blindly with a few configs, clicked the small blue arrow in the bottom right hand corner of the config pane and Robert instantly became my father's brother.
All the .psd thumbnails displayed okay.
Whoop de do!
I think it's time I hit the hay...

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
Today I was musing on the trouble folks generally are having with Win 10 and thumbnail caching...
Aside from BOT, Sage Thumbviewer and Mystic thumbs are there any other similar thumbnail viewer around?
After having a quick search I didn't find much.

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
My users complain of the same issue, where I have no problem with 2018 and Win 10.
Has anyone tried the following?
* Open a random pspimage in PSP 2018
* File > Save As > Options > Version - Save > PSPX4 - X7 compatible file and save the pspimage
All future pspimages will be saved as a X4-X7 compatible file and will be visible in Windows Explorer. You can even set it for a lower version compatibility.

Re: pspimages not showing in Win Explorer
Indeed...
But as I've always undestood it, if you do that, any editing you've done that contains Post X7 effects or whatever, will be ignored and lost on Save.
That's been the mantra since at least Jasc PSP 7 or 8. (Not absolutely sure as it's a long time ago, and as I started using PSP when it was supplied on a 3.5 inch disk my old brain might be under the influence of flatulence).

Nb: Any old time experts left to confirm or cast 'nasturtiums' on my musings?
