avc/h.264 with AAC audio

Post by mlswartz22 »

It appears that the only audio options for avc/h.264 files are Dolby and LPCM. I need to create avc/h.264 with AAC so that my files will be compatible with Samsung link share. Is there any way to accomplish this with VS X9 Ult?

First can you tell us whether Samsung requires the video to have an .mp4 extension or an .m2ts one? The latter is what you would get if you went to Share and chose "AVC/H.264" as the output format -- as well as locking you in to Dolby or LPCM audio. But if instead you go to Share > MPEG-4, you will see in the details of the Properties of the templates there that they use the H.264 high video profile format, as well as using AAC audio. But they will produce videos with .mp4 as the extension, and I imagine that is what Samsung will be looking for.

But it would be useful if you could confirm this.

Ken, Thanx for your reply. Unfortunately, it must be m2t extension - it doesn't even recognize files with an mp4 extension. There spec says avc/h.264 (m2t) with either AC3 (Dolby) or AAC audio. It will not recognize m2t with LPCM audio. Thanx, Mark S.

Your first post implied AAC was the only acceptable audio. But now you say AC3 is also acceptable. So what's wrong with that?

Take attention with Samsung! My Samsung TV refused to play the .m2t-files. The file extension for Samsung TV has to be .M2TS ! So I changed the file extension of all files produced with VS.
