Videostudio 2018 Ultimate install problem

Hello, I've just bought the Corel Videostudio 2018 Ultimate upgrade. When I tried installing it on my computer, after it downloaded all files, I got an message stating that there was an error with the installation (possibly not in these exact words, since the message was in french), and to contact customer support. I've tried running the install program exe file with administrator privileges, also tried deleting all the files in the download directory in case one of them was corrupted and tried to run the install exe as an admin, and still the same result. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do share please. There is another post by davy22: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63394 who has similar problem. I also had this problem and could not solve it without Corel's help. We need your success story.

Sorry guys, I should have thought earlier about posting what worked for me...

I had Microsoft .NET framework version 4.7.1 installed on my computer.
It seems that VS 2018 tries to install also .NET version 4.5 during it's install procedure. My guess is that it does not know how to deal with that when it happens, so it gives out an error.

What I did: I've uninstalled Microsoft .NET framework 4.7.1 (if you have 4.6 or anything with a .NET version number higher than 4.5, I suggest you install it also, just in case). I've rebooted the computer after that, and then I've tried the VS 2018 installation, which went thru completely, it has installed all the without any error messages.
After that, I've checked if VS 2018 worked, and it did. After confirming VS was working fine, I've reinstalled .NET 4.7.1, and VS was working fine even with that newer version. So far so good.

Hope this solution will work for you as well.

On my win 7 PC too. Verified (took a bit of poking around in control panel - the .NET installs are in the windows update installed pages whereas the program is listed in the programs and features page) that VS2018 was installed about 5 days before the MS update that installed .NET 4.7.1

This is reminiscent of the reaction of VS when installing older versions (say, X8 and prior which used a self-extracting executable) which also included a quicktime item. And if you already had QT installed, and the version was higher than the one VS was trying to install, you got an error message. Which in fact was a windows message, not from VS, which meant (altho did not say) that there was a more recent version existing. The fix was found by Brian C in London and basically was to OK thru the message boxes, VS would not try to install it's version, and the VS install proceeded to the end satisfactorily. Is history repeating itself here?

well, I don't have net4.7 , I have only 4.5.2 since sep2017.
And still I had VS2018 error and no install. (last time I tried was about a month ago)
