OK as mentioned in my previous post , have managed to do tests on a Canon 40D which was released in about 2007.
In this case PSP 2018 does recognise the rotation and applies it correctly the same as PSP X4.
So it appears the Canon 20D (released 2004) is just too outdated to be supported by later versions of PSPX5 (released 2012) and above.
PSP does not see image orientation

I don't think it is fair to lay the blame on the camera. Every other piece of software (the ones that recognize rotation at all) gets it right.

After winding its way through various layers of tech support, I've been told that this is now in the hands of the engineering team. Now it's a waiting game.
