Video Capture using VS8.0 --

Post by harvestcottage »

Running on XP SP1
Video Capture, using USB2 and Scart to Video Output

Using VS8, capturing video from a VCR. How are we supposed to adjust audio input levels?

I have enabled...

Under Capture
Capture Video
Capture Options
check Display Sound Volume Panel

When I capture the video, the capture volume is set on MAXIMUM and when I try and drag the volume bar down, it will not move! The volume bar is not greyed out, and so can in theory move, but something is preventing it... :(

I have launched XP audio controls panel(s) and nothing on here seems to allow me to reduce the record volume. As a result all captures have distored sound.

The audio source is defined to USB Instant VCD audio.

Any ideas? Obviously after the capture I can reduce the volume of the audio capture, BUT as it was captured at maximum volume it is distorted and so I am simply reducing the volume of an already distorted input.

Thank you in advance.... :D

Double-click on the Speaker icon in the System Tray to access the Windows Mixer. Go to the Options menu and select Properties. Change the radio button to display the Recording mixer. Adjust the volume level down, and if any advanced options are available, see if there is a +20dB boost being applied to the audio input -- if so, turn it off, or it will incorrectly amplify an already amplified input signal.

Thank you for that....you advice greatly appreciated....

Sadly, when I do this, both the Volume and the Advanced Buttons are greyed out for this device ("USB Instant VCD audio"). I am using this recording driver as this was installed when using an earlier version of ULEAD which came which the capture cable.

This is the right recording driver to use?

Is there a better/supported one for ULEAD VS8.0?
