Trial version limitations?

Post by Cassel »

I have to give a class, soon, on using PSP (it is a project for teens). I don't want them to purchase it yet so I gave them instructions to download the trial version, which will be good for the duration of the project. My issue now is that this presentation will be in French. I did go through the process, myself, by downloading the trial on a laptop, and installing it, but I was never prompted to choose the language. And by default, it was installed in English.

Is that one limitation of the trial version?? Only in English?

Could it be detecting the system language?
As far as I know there are no limitations in the trial version other than you can only install one version x64/x86

Also there is a French version of the forum

As far as the 64- and 32-bits are concerned, I was aware of that, however, once I downloaded the "default" file, on the Thank you page, there was a link for the 32-bits, so that is what I was able to download.

As far as detecting the language, that might be it. I do wonder if there is a way to actually CHOOSE the French version even if one's system is mostly in English. At this point, I am unsure if I should create my handouts in French or in English if it is possible that some participants will have an English system while others would have a French one.

I think that the problem is that Paintshop Pro, at least in the later versions, does not ship with a lanquage pack, and I don't know if there is a way to get and install a language pack. You would have to contact Corel about that.

In PSP 2018 if you go to File>Preferences you'll find an option at the bottom of the flyout called Switch Languages. However, in my version (which is the English version) the dialogue that appears to allow switching of languages only has US English as an option and does not provide any other options.

I figured out that the trial version comes only in one language. If I go to the corel.com site, by default I am sent to the English page (likely because my system is in English), but if I change the /en/ in the URL by /fr/, then, I will get a French trial version. But it seems that the trial version has only one language, whichever is downloaded. So that answers my question.

Thanks.
