Videostudio 2018 Trial

Post by leszektrojanowski »

I've just downloaded a trial version of Video Studio 2018.

I've come across two main issues so far:
- the layout of my timeline keeps changing despite saving it to custom #1 (after I close VS and then restart it, it comes back to the original settings)
- for some strange reason I can't change my preferred order of videos, images or audio files; there's 'sort clips by' which I'm interested in, because in prev versions I was able to move clips freely

I'm wondering if this is a trial version behaving like this or the full version doesn't have those glitches. I Don't want to go for a full update if this is the case

Does anyone have the same issues?

Thanks,

Leszek

Hi leszektrojanowski

As far as I know the full version did retain the new layout when opening the program.
I have the trial version installed so cannot confirm that, but yes there seems to be a problem with the trial and the Custom Layouts.
(Work round) When you open VS, drag a panel out of position then press Ctrl + 1
Purchased version - there is/was an issue with the layout and the Options panel new dual view ( Show Library and Options Panel.) switching that panel did affect the layout.

Sort Clips By……..
I do not really use that my clips load to the library ok for me, but when I have tried to sort the order it seems to work ok, so I do not think the trial is any different to the purchased version.

You should contact Corel Support regarding your concerns.

Maybe other users running the full version can comment?

The sort clip function took a hit in the latest version (2018) - can no longer arrange as you wish (as you could in X10), only by the presets.

This is a bummer as I frequently arranged the clips according to how I want to see them in the library, often based on order in the Timeline but can't do it now.

Thank you very much, guys. I've decided not to go ahead with the upgrade anyway. I'm not sure why they decided to change some option when they were previously working ok.

Thanks Guys,
I have purchase 2018 and have experienced the same problem with arranging clips in the library. I was not sure whether this was a fault of new function. It is unfortunate as it was a very useful function. Hopefully they will reinstate it in the next version of VS.

I can confirm this problem exists in the Full Version even when set to a custom setting. I have to go from custom#1 then back to default and then custom#1 again for it work.

R & D are aware of the problem and are working on a solution, the fix should be included in SP2, whenever that is released, hopefully, soon.

Having the same problem with X10 Ultimate. Every time I open the program, I have to rearrange the the layout window. Been using Videostudio since Version #4 and have never seen this issue. At first I thought it was Windows 10 updates because it just started happening recently. Now after reading this post I am not sure what the issue is. Hope this gets fixed. Oh, and when I am working on a project the program freezes for a few seconds or so, and if I minimize and then maximize the window, it releases the software again. My computer is an Alienware Area-51 R4, Intel Core i9, 3.3 ghz with 250 GB SSD and 3 TB storage with 16 GB memory and NVIDIA GTX 1070 graphics card. So I am sure it is not a power problem. This is a gaming computer and handles video editing wonderfully. I will return to this thread often to see what, or if, a fix becomes known. Thanks for a great forum through the years. I have gotten a lot of help here with the software. Be well.

Hi dbz2000

I think you are the first person to have this issue with VSX10, most users are only having this problem with VS 2018
There have been a few Win 10 updates recently, you could try uninstalling them to see if you can identify which update may be causing your issue.
VSX10 on the Win 7 platform is working correctly

Even in Germany, the error is known. :)

I could understand it with the custom layout. It looks like ...
- I work with two monitors (on the second is the preview).
- this layout is stored under C#1.
- with that layout I close VS2018.
- Restart and get the default layout. :(
- I open the layout menu and see the layout C#1 is active (checked) but I really have standard (just one monitor).
- Now I have to go back to Standard (with F7 key) and only after that I can recall my_two-monitor-layout with Ctrl+1.

Here is really the worm in it.
