Lock track and Sonic Fire Pro 6 in Videostudio 2018
Two questions for Videostudio 2018
1) Is there a way to lock a track such that it won't be subject to edits in another track (e.g. splice) and still be active for playback? It is available in multi-track editor.
2) Is SonicFire Pro v6.x supposed to be available in v2018? I know Corel is advertising the Lite Version of SonicFire Pro 6 in the Get More.
(I have been trying to get an answer to this from support for weeks now and all I get is: I need to research this more or speak to colleagues followed by continuing notices that they are waiting for input from me. (Several times). Maddening! (As a matter of fact while preparing this post I got another email from King in customer support closing the ticket claiming I did not respond, when as usual I did. One can see my responses in the chain of emails). Sorry for the rant.)
Right now I do not seem to have access to the SonicFire Pro 6 within the program. Is it suppose to be available within Videostudio 2018?
Thanks in advance

As far as we are aware, whilst Corel are advertising the Lite version of Sonic Fire Pro 6, what is not made clear, is that there is no plugin for VS, confirmed by SmartSound,ie. it is a standalone version only

Thanks RobertOZ,
Too bad after a couple of weeks customer service couldn't tell me that.

Hi
When we edit a clip on the overlay track it does not affect any other track.
We can cut clips into sections using the scissors removing unwanted parts, or use Multi Trim Video, personally I prefer to cut my clips using the scissors.
The top timeline always places clips from left to right, there can be no gaps, so cutting a clip there and removing sections will move all clips left to fill the gap.
Generally editing is applied to individual clips and does not affect other tracks.
There is a process called Ripple Editing that locks clips together to keep the overlays in sync with the top track.
Can you give more details in what you are trying to achieve?
What do you mean by Multi Track Editor, maybe I have missed something with the new version?

Re: Lock track and Sonic Fire Pro 6 in Videostudio 2018
Thanks for the reply. Right now I do not have v2018 installed because of the conflict with PowerDirector. (See conflict of interest posts).
What I have noticed (and I hope I am remembering correctly) is if I 'scissor' a file on the top track it will also 'scissor' an audio track, even if I disable the audio track.
I wish to be able to just lock the audio track and have it play without being affected to a 'scissor' the top track (or any edit).
Sorry I cannot retest this right now, but I hope to reinstall v2018 real soon.

Hi Barry
The program uses two modes Project and Clip
These also affect the way the scissors work.
After you select a cut point, click to select the clip you wish to cut, the word Clip will be highlighted adjacent to play button.
With the Clip selected the scissors will cut the selected clip.
With Project selected the scissors will cut all tracks below the curser.
Both options have their uses.

THAT indeed answers my question. I usually work in project mode and hence my 'problem'.lata wrote:Hi Barry

My experience, the light version is now purchasable. I did it via Pinnacle Studio 21 and got into trouble. After buying via Corel Online I got an order confirmation with a S/N. So far, everything fine. But for the activation also an activation number is required but I have not yet received after a week. Finally, the purchase was revoked.

No, not a statement yet.
It was officially reported as faulty by me and I got a mail with ticket # promptly. One day later it was reported as "forwarded to another department" with another mail. Since then there is a break.
No, my revocation has not yet been confirmed (it has only been a week before). Not yet refund.

Re: Lock track and Sonic Fire Pro 6 in Videostudio 2018
Hi
CVSX10 provided SonicFire Pro 6 as part of the package within the Common folder
My version seems to be 6.0.4.0.
I did not understand why Corel dropped that free feature with 2018.
The X10 welcome Screen also shows Sonic fire for sale, again strange when it comes with the program.
I last downloaded the X10 packages in Sept 2017, SonicFire is still there available with X10.

Re: Lock track and Sonic Fire Pro 6 in Videostudio 2018
I have the full version of SFP6 and the plugin for Pinnacle. It works wonderful. Talking with SS about this "light" version, I kinda thought exactly what it was. A standalone ExpressTrack version specifically for the home user. Price of the music is less than the usual price. And of course, less than Triple Scoop Music. I skipped VS versions after they removed QuickTracks from Smartsound. Smartsound had moved to ExpressTracks which is more flexible and easier to use than QuickTracks, but some reason, Corel decided to stop plugin support. I would have bought (like I did with Pinnacle) the plugin from Smartsound.
From Smartsound about this light version:
"What you see as "Sonicfire Pro 6 Light" is a new consumer version of Sonicfire Pro that is directed more towards home users than professional/commercial users. It includes the "Core Evolution" music album, and the 5 free tracks from Core Foundations for a total of 15 tracks bundled. But the real difference is that we have selected ~200 tracks from our library that are offered with a Home/Personal use license only through this special version of the software at a significantly reduced price of $4.99 per track. These tracks do not have the same licensing rights as our normal music with the Extended License, and basically can only be used for personal projects, but it is a way for us to offer our music solution to users who might otherwise be priced out by the professional licensing costs.
There is a checkbox in this version to toggle between viewing only these home-use tracks and the entire library, and when adding one of the selected ~200 tracks to the cart will offer the option for the $4.99 home license, but aside from that it functions the same as the normal free (non-timeline) version of Sonicfire Pro 6."
