VSX9-Ult - Can I revert to the previous patch?

Post by Old_Friend »

I'm really unhappy about Corel's latest patch for VSX9 - [19.7.0.12]? It seems to have more problems than its previous patch. It even introduced new problems!

Can I revert back, safely? If so, then what steps should I take to do that?

Note: I had a jpg image to attach explained (visually) the issues much more clearly than text. But, this forum says it's too big?

Hi

Your only option is to re-install the program, that should give you version 19.5.0.35
Then ignore any options to install patches.

I think you should do a clean uninstall by selecting to remove your personal data.
That will of course reset your library but if there were problems with the library should improve things.

Once you have installed the earlier version take note if any of your issues have been addressed

If you explain what problems you are having then maybe we can advise?

Forum image attachments as far as I know should be max 500KB at 800 x 900 px

Hi Trevor,

Didn't reply right away. Been ill.

I'm sorry to hear that a complete removal and re-installation of the entire program and all the additional 'packages' has to be done, merely to revert to the previous patch. Hell, even Microsoft offers the means to revert to previous updates, etc. without such a confusing process. And, they aren't the only ones who offer such things.

I've decided to not risk a total mess-up of the program, now. The process is too confusing and I fear that I could lose what I have, currently.

I will go ahead and try to explain only a couple issues (out of quite few issues) which I find bothersome while using VSX9-Ult's, latest patch. I added only a small .jpg. The larger one explained more. Here's a brief, textual explanation.

* While working on any project, and wanting to "import new media to the library," the process of locating and viewing the MS Windows' hard drive Folder tree is "missing" its normal viewing state. The Corel Developers forgot to use the SAME MS Folder Tree which is in-use on my system. Instead, the developers give me nothing but an entire, full-size, mostly white screen. There's only a little area at the top-left, with a miniature, ill-performing, directory (Folder) path tool. Using that is very, very frustrating. I get angry every time I have to use it. That is something the developers should have fixed and provided with their new patch. It was working fine --before they messed it up with the new patch!

* Also on the same page that is presented when trying to import new media into the library, they removed another standard MS Windows feature. Developers removed the user-page-sizing-options from the upper-right corner on that page. (See the example image I attached).

These issues may not bother anybody else, but me. I just get tired of people who never check their own work before releasing it to the public. These oversights should have been found & fixed in the latest patch!

Thanks, Trevor.

Hi Larry

There are two options to importing our clips
Image one shows the Import Digital media Option.
Image two shows the Browse option, that opens a Windows Explorer folder, from here you can drag and drop files to the library.

I do not have a problem with importing clips to the library using Import Digital Media
The window showing always defaults to the last window I used.

The Max Min options have never been available, I checked earlier versions X8 which show the same as X9, clearly the patch did not alter that, but we can resize the panel by dragging the corners of the window.

However the Browse option opens Windows Explorer showing the normal view we are all used to.
