2018 Ultimate 64 bit

When I try to print I get error message Tab failed to initialise, followed by print layout screen showing but scrambled. everything seizes up and have to close program. Only happens on the 64 bit and everything works on the 32 bit. It was working fine till last week. I have re installed but still no joy. I've searched this forum but cant find any related topic however in the wider world it is reported by others with exactly the same problem. Is it a windows thing? maybe their update? anyhow the only work around I have is to save my pics to file and use an external print program which is a bit of a chore at times. Anyone?
