Gary Barton - anyone have contact info??

Post by JoeB »

With Gary Barton's script site now inactive, there is interest in being able to find a way to make his scripts available. Does anyone, perhaps those from the old newsgroups, have any information about how he might be contacted? If so, Cassel particularly would be interested (as would I, but that's not as important), and the information could be sent to Cassel by PM rather than publicly posted here.

On the French forum, we have listed all Gary Barton's scripts:
http://www.paintshoppro.fr/viewtopic.ph ... 8716#p8700
Those listed in red are found.
If you own some of the black scripts (missing), I would be interested.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info Jean-Luc. We may be able to do something similar in the English forum - we'll see. :-)

I have sent Jean-Luc a few more that were in his black list.
Don't have many, but it all helps.
Best to keep them all in one place :-)

I think I found all of them using archive.org. Only 7 scripts were in the vapho archive, but Cassel already gave you those. The rest were in his original comcast page archive. I'm slowly downloading, sorting, and making PDF versions of the instruction pages. Give me a few minutes.

I found a bunch of his scripts also (not all) but if you have all of them I'll just hang on to my list as it may not be necessary. I also have the html pages with instructions for all of his links but I think your PDF's would be much better.

They're just PDF versions of those html pages. Any PDF printer will do the same thing. xD I've already sent this link to Jean-Luc but for everyone else - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1FjsUA ... JuqZHh1mbl

Those were all of the scripts I was able to find.

Absolutely excellent! It does contain all of the scripts listed on Gary's original site.

All that remains is if you could edit your sticky post in the Scripting subforum with regard to Gary Barton's scripts to say that all of the scripts are available for download at the link you provided (assuming you intend to keep them there) and letting them know the included PDF files provide instructions for each script. I would appreciate if you'd also keep the note about his Pause script, without the link but perhaps adding it's in the package. I noted today that the French forum has a similar note about that script when they originally posted links to his scripts a couple of years ago, and just think it's something some people often wish to do but don't have a clue how. I have several of Suz's scripts where she also incorporated the Pause script. JMO, of course, but I feel it's nice to give people a simple way to create interactive scripts that can do a lot and still give flexibility to the person using it. :-)

I posted this request for contact info about Gary Barton here and in the Scripting subgroup for the purpose of trying to find out if anyone had contact info for him. So far, despite quite a few views of these posts, nobody has responded saying that they have such info. :-(

And no, I don't know why he decided to stop having the site hosted.
