Screen text uncomfortably small

Post by terrypin »

With startup times now reasonable, the main obstacle to my transition from PSP 8 to 2018 is now the predictable one of familiarity, and that will take time. But there's also another reason why I return promptly to PSP 8 every day: the unacceptably small size of much text in the UI. While I can read it, it's not easy on this 1920 x 1080 Prolite E2403WS.

I have a monitor which is also the recommended 1920 x 1080 but found the text too small and as well when I did a search on Google for circle and looked at the images found that they were distorted, so I had to change the resolution to 1680 x 1050 which made the text of Menus a bit more readable.
In Win10 1607 there was a means of changing text size for App menus, titles etc :

https://winaero.com/blog/menu-text-size ... rs-update/

but unfortunately this has been dropped in the 1703 and 1709 updates.
There is a suggestion there that some registry hacks might be able to produce the changes but so far have had no success with the first part.
Would be good if Corel could make changes to allow that to be done in the creators update versions.

There are six pages of complaints and possible solutions here:

Just tried this and it works well at least on Menu text.

The download link is in the middle bottom, File is changesize.exe and is 46 KB.

Thanks hartpaul.

It's only PSP 2018 giving me this problem and I don't want to make a system wide change.

However I'm pleased to say that visibiltiy improved after I changed to a light grey workspace. But, although I recognise the design difficulties of altering text size, it's a pity I cannot now change its colour to plain black. I'd have thought that was within the scope of an individual application?

P.S. I was mistaken about my screen size; it's 1920 x 1200 not 1920 x 1080. (I'm immersed in making a video, at my usual size of 1920 x 1080, aspect ratio 16:9.)
