Default Keyboard Short Cuts Stop working

hey I am having odd problem been using keyboard short cuts the default ones for years with no problem in psp they stop working oI have PSP 2018 the shortcuts on my other programs works so it is not mt my keyboard the only way I can get them to work in psp is doing a custom keyboard shortcut .. hate to have to add each default one separately is there a way to get all the default ones to work again

You could try resetting PSP by closing it then holding down the Shift key while restarting it. You will have to make sure you have a copy of your customized workspace file saved or, when reset, you'll have to do your customizations all over again also.

Thank you JoeB I was hoping to not have to reset it but I did and it took care of it for about 30 minutes but it is starting to act up again might have to re-install the program hope not though might try resetting it again before re-install

What is your exact version of PSP? You can find it under Help > About
I remember having that issue a while ago, with a previous "version".
Does the cut using Edit > Cut works but not the Keyboard shortcut?

Thanks Cassel and Joe B for the help I Have Ultimate 2018 32 and 64 bit both yes Cassel the cut and Window/ Duplicate and the other tools are working by Menu just not shortcuts keys I downloaded the Patch the patch says it does not need it at this time ..that funny have not updated when I bought 2018 the update was not out yet I will try the update again

You are running the most current version. Even though the update was not out when you bought PSP, that doesn't mean they didn't include it.

I would be interested in what are the most common shortcuts that you are using and when they start to fail.


At the start of a session , part way through?

When they do start to go does that then carry over to the next session (after closing and restarting PSP) or do they work correctly for a while then start to misbehave.

Does this happen with other programs - shortcuts start to fail?
(I am looking here at a possible intermittent keyboard failure- you can get portable external keyboards to test this if it also occurs in other programs.)

Have you customized some of your keyboard shortcuts and are there some overlaps?

When a keyboard shortcut for an operation stops working, has it been changed in the customization settings. (View > Customize > Keyboard tab )

If you go to that View > Customize > Keyboard tab , does the bottom right button Reset All fix the problem even if temporarily?

Hello hartpaul I tried to answer your questions but mostly the do not work period as soon as open till I close psp I have Windows 10 64 bit I forgot to mention that lin my past replies here is my answers

it starts from the Open till I close it will not work period if I go to the menu to the tols with mouse the tools and options work just not on keyboard area When I open the psp first two things I do is I duplicaate my image to not work orginal Shft + D Duplicate and New Window Shift +W or Open CTRL +O all three does not work

it carries over if I reset the psp all together it will work for a few and stop working all togther once again when I close psp and reopen it still no shorcuts I have tried resetting the psp

I have no problems with shortcuts in other programs and I also have photoshop and keyboard and shortcut works no problem on my windows shortcuts work in other programs I have tried putting new batteries in my keyboard even tried a 2 different keyboards another wireless keyboard and my cord orginal keyboard , I have run virus scans and malware I am clean I even took my plugins off and added one at a time to see if there was a conflict and with plugins or no plugins shorcuts does not workeither way even called Dell suppoert and the had problems to just with psp nothing else

Been working with psp for a long time and this is strange one I always walk through steps to check things before asking for help but this has me baffled

Ok we have eliminated the keyboard and customized shortcuts.
Now you mentioned you have been using PSP for some time which suggests that you may have available different versions of PSP.
Do the shortcuts work with other versions of PSP or also fail there.
If they work then it suggests that there may be something wrong with your PSP 2018, and you may have to uninstall, use the clean up tool mentioned here:

Then you might need to download a more recent version of PSP 2018 and install that .

I only have 2018 installed when I upgrade I take old off I will be reinstalling my psp for sure I wll use the clean up tool maybe do that tomorrow or Monday and if I download the trial download from Corel site the full version will that work with my key when I get a new psp Corel support tells me to remove the trial version before installing the full version I do not buy upgrades CD I pay extra for the full each time but the upgrades always gives my Dell Xps fits on install ... have had two Xps and both hates upgrades of programs have to get full programs but the Xps is the best I have used in computers Thank you to everyone hartpaul, Cassel and Joe B and Kenny for the help ..I appreciate so much happy weekend .. will let you know what happens after the reinstall

I installed PaintShop Pro 2021, and had keyboard short cuts stop working in Edit. I was able to fix it by going to View > Customize -> Keyboard and selecting "Reset All". They are all back and fully functional!
