"Fixing" the initial screen

Post by OldNick »

In PSP 2018, when I open the programme, I get a screen that plain does not suit me. My work pattern is to open PSP then drag files in on a Win Explorer folder I already have open. I like to see a menu and ......basically I was fine with the way older versions worked.

Is there a way to make it mine again?

Thanks for any help

Nick

It always helps us if you can provide specific details. In this case, I don't know what screen you are referring to when you say that you "get a screen that plain does not suit me." I also don't know what you mean by making PSP yours again.

From your post I am going to assume that you want PSP to open with the workspace into which you can drag files from Windows Explorer. Have you gone through all of the options in File>Preferences? The option to choose what interface/screen you get as default when PSP opens is found under the Tabs option in File>Preferences>General Program Preferences.

hmmm.OK. It's the stock screen for PSP Pro 2018: as downloaded.

When I say a screen that suits me, as I said, pretty much like the older versions. "basically I was fine with the way older versions worked."

Still not helpful. It would help if you mentioned an earlier version of PSP that you were happy with. I believe that terrypin from England wanted the later vesions to look like PSP 8 and we were able to show him what changes were needed there. You might look for his starting post and search his posts to find out what he wanted and what he did.

A description of what you see on the screen that opens would actually be what I meant by providing more details. So now must assume that by "the stock screen" you mean the Welcome screen where you can choose to use the Essentials mode or Complete mode. Did you choose the Complete mode as your preference? If so, what do you do next and what screen do you get next? In any event, you then you still have to go to File>Preferences>General Program Preferences>Tabs option to choose for a preferred Default screen that will open when PSP opens. And once you've made your choice you have to save your workspace or it might not stick.

Good to hear. Now make sure to spend some time familiarizing yourself with all of the options in Preferences, as well as new tools, the Help option, etc. You'll find it likely will make it faster to help you get to know what PSP2018 has to offer. After that, if you still have questions that you can't find the answers to, post about those issues.
