VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
I was just trying to carry our the Share Step from an opened project. I got the message that the project was loading but then the system froze on me. I tried restarting VieoStudio and also restarting the computer. The problem still persists. Any ideas? I am still running VideStudeo (and have resisited offers to upgrade to 10 for the last few months.) I now see that there is a new VideoStudio 2018.

Re: VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
Pretty hard to offer some help since you have given so little detail. What version of VS are you using? State precisely what steps you are doing: you say "opened project" what is in the project? video files, photos, transitions, etc?
VS 2018 has just been announced, but not sure if it will solve the problem you are encountering.

Re: VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
What output format and resolution are you selecting ? Did you click on anything in the Share menu just before it freezes ?
Do you have lots of hard drive space ? I see you have 6G of ram.. that seems an odd number ?

Re: VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
Sorry, I was using X9 until this week.and the project is A VIDEO PROJECT. I had got this project through the Share Step back on 19th January and successfully produced a DVD with no problems. I then decided to do some edits to the voiceover track, which had an annoying click at the start of each recording (that's another issue and one to which I have never been able to find a solution, short of editing the click out)) When the amended version failed to get through the Share Step I thought that perhaps the project had become corrupted. I therefore restored the original version from the 19th January from my back-up, but this would not go through the Share step either.
I contacted Corel via Chat and they suggested that I should upgrade to X10 ( and here is another issue, since 2018 was released that very week, so I don't know why they suggested X10 - I have taken this up with them). Unfortunately this particular project will still not allow the Share Step to successfully load it. I have tried with another video project and not experienced the same issue at all. I am at a loss......

Re: VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
Hi mwsing
I would suspect there is some problem with the actual project and not the burning process
Updating to another version is not gonna cure that.
You should change your workflow by rendering the project to a mpeg2 video file
Open your project do you receive any relink messages?
View play the project in the timelines, if all looks ok.
Share - Mpeg2 choosing a suitable template, you are in AU and should be using Pal??
Save the Mpeg2 to your hard drive (File Location)
Typically….. MPEG-2 (720 x 576, 16:9, 50i, 8Mbps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps) (upto 70 minutes of footage)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Do you have any problems rendering the file?
How large is the file, it should be approx. 4 Gb, not larger than 4.3 Gb.
Now start a new project to clear the timelines
Share Disc – DVD opens the burner module
Top left Add Media -- Add Video files.
Complete the disc / menu editing, on the last page choose to create a Disc Image iso File

Re: VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
Many thanks Trevor. Sorry that I have not got back to you before, but I was deeply immersed in another project. I have now got back to this one.
I had successfully rendered this project and produced output on a DVD. I did get a message saying that the project might be too large to fit on a 4.7 Gb DVD, but it was successful. It is about 1 hr 15 min long, I can't remember how large it said that the output file would be.
The reason that I was trying to do it again was that there was a "click" at the beginning of each voiceover clip. I went through and trimmed each clip so that I could create new DVDs. However, it was when trying to Share the new file that the freezing occurs. I therefore conclude that the file has been corrupted. I even tried restoring it from another back-up copy but got the same result.
I have now tried to create an MPEG-2 file as you suggest. The program now tells me that the output will be 8.42Gb - so perhaps it is the size that is the problem. It certainly wasn't that big when I did the DVD. Why would this be?
It looks like I might just have to live with the copies with the "clicks"!

Re: VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
Trevor - further to my recent post, I have just loaded this project again. When I chose DVD in the Share Step, it tells me the output file is 4.38Gb

Re: VideoStudio freezing in Share Step
Hi
If you start a new project (nothing in the timelines) then do Share Disc – DVD
Now add your Mpeg2 video, (top left icon) browse for your video the one showing as 4.38Gb
Now view the timeline, it should show only Green, if there are any yellow the size is on the limit and may not fit to disc.
If red then definitely to big
For 75 minutes using Mpeg2 and Digital Dolby should just fit to a 4.3 Gb disc. I say just fit?
Don’t get confused with 4.3Gb and 4.7Gb sizes they are both the same just the way files are sized. Best option is to view the Green size bar to confirm it will fit.
If there are any yellow then the file is to large and needs rendering again using a lower data rate, 7500kbps would probably be low enough
