Brush tip script info

Post by SigsCreations »

I have used PSP since probably version 2 with JASC but stopping using it at version 11.
I wasn't happy with the direction the program under Corel was heading at that time. It seemed it was more geared toward photography and quick fixes rather than being an all around graphics program. But I went ahead and bought this new version (2018) as the info seemed to indicate that it has gone back to being a good all around program.

So my knowledge of the program is a bit outdated and I just need to understand why PSP is throwing a fit at me. I told the file locations where to find my brushes that I used to use. Brushes have changed a lot over time, originally just one file, then it split into 2 files and now what on earth is the program looking for? It is liking the ones that are the old one file format, but seems to be choking on the newer type with a brushtip_*.pspscript file in addition to the *.pspbrush file.

A box comes up that says "script output" and it is running an endless loop of these brushtip_*.pspscript files. Does this version not use those? I went back into preferences and told it not to use subfolders but it is still trying to read these brush and brushtip files that are in a subfolder. Currently I am moving all of the brushtip_*.pspscript files out of that tree so the program CAN'T see them, but for future use, should I just delete these files? Or is it possible that PSP is choking because a file is corrupted? What causes this behavior?

Thanks
Sig

You have already done the first part in your detective work in moving all the brushes (created or added) out of the Brushes folder.
Now you need to look at those brushes and see if they fit into groups, and then add one member of a group back and see if that works. If it works then you can add all similar members of that group and again test if they work.
Then you start on the next different group and continue testing in a similar way til you find which brush or brushes are causing the problems and then report back to this forum with more information on the brushes causing the problem and perhaps uploading a sample of one that definitely causes a problem for others to test.

So I take it, the program still uses both files. Interesting. Ok, I'll see if I can figure out which one is the problem
thanks
