In your list only Essentials V are included as part of VS, all the other packages you have installed yourself at some point, because none of the other packages have ever been included as part of VS

NewBlue Film Effects
NewBlue Light Effects
NewBlue Motion Blends
NewBlue 3D Explosions
NewBlue 3D Transformations
NewBlue Art Blends
NewBlue Paint Blends

None of these appear to be available at the present time with VS 2018. They are still available from within VS X10.

I can also confirm that the template I had bought some time back (Squares & Spheres) works perfectly well. It also appears that the templates I created myself are also workig well too. I haven't had time to check over them all yet.
Those effects you list are not part of VS X10 but must have come from somewhere else.

The DoMore page shows those effects available for purchase at $39.95 for each effect

I can only agree with Robert. I don't know where you got all those other NB filters, but they never came as part of the previous VS bundles. I seem to recall that one of them (Film Effects) came as a freebie as part of a reduced price offer for VS X7, but that came well after the public release of whichever version it was. You are, in any case, lucky to have them, and from a personal point of view, the NB Explosions filter!

I have taken my time answering this as I have fired up a couple of my other computers to see what came with the versions of VS I have on them. I have checked X7, X8, X9 and X10, and all of them have the following NB filters or plug-ins:

Titler
ColorFast
Motion Effects
Sampler
Essentials I, II, IV, V and VII -- and with V only containing the Background Generator.

In some of them I also have Essentials III, VI and a filled out V, but as Robert has also suggested above, these came from my separately purchased versions of all Essentials Packages I - VI; and I had to install them separately after installing VS.

I have never had most of the filters you list either as part of VS or purchased separately. But they are not "missing" from 2018 since they were never meant to be there, just as they were not part of previous versions.

But as Robert has suggested, it is easy enough to copy their entries from X10's vft_plug folder into the same folder in 2018.

Are you suggesting then that it is acceptable for previous purchases to no longer be supported in the new version of VideoStudio and for the optional Effects to no longer be made available?

I'm not suggesting that at all. As Robert and I have both said earlier the filters and plug-ins which were bought separately must be downloaded somewhere even if they were bought or otherwise obtained from within earlier versions of VS. That is certainly the case with the Essentials packages which Robert and I have bought. Finding those downloads might be more difficult but since I don't have them, I have no idea where they might have gone.

As we know, each installation of a version of VS is independent of earlier versions. It does not automatically pick up what might have been installed in the earlier version, but there are ways around this. The easiest of course is simply to find the downloaded installation files, but failing that, copying the relevant entries from the ealier to the later vfx_plug folder is an effective workaround which many of us have used over a number of versions.

None of us here work for Corel, so we have no idea why Corel has not listed those extra plug-ins in 2018. Corel has to pay NewBlue a licence fee for each version of VS in which they are included, so that may be one reason. Another is the fact that in the past NewBlue has indicated it was not going to adapt many of its packages for Corel any longer, wanting instead to focus on higher end/more expensive editing software programs. That could be another reason. But it is largely speculation on my part. Only Corel could supply an answer, but getting them to do so might be difficult.

Thank you Ken Berry.

I am aware that you don't work for Corel and your help is appreciated. I do a similar job elsewhere on the Internet to yourselves.

I'm just kind of annoyed that the response from Corel appears to be limited to "tough", well at least that's the summary of their short response.

For now I have got the transitions working once more. The soluton isn't ideal though.

I'm having "fun" seeing what else has been changed. For example Boris Graffiti FX is now missing :( . I made use of that for a project I did last year and was thinking about making use of it again, but in a different way this year. I know that the NewBlue Titler Pro is supposed to be better, but I've never got on with it. It's been proving to be just as much of a headache this evening too.

I'm going to have to reboot my laptop in a moment. VS 2018 keeps locking up on me at the moment and preventing me from selecting some test clips I'm attempting to play with.

You are absolutely correct, except that Boris Graffiti 7.0 was also NOT included in VSX10.5 when BCC Title Studio replaced it, VSX9 was the last version to include Graffiti 7.0, although it is possible that VSX10 did include it, but was removed when 10.5 was released

Ok, that's odd. Whilst I bouht X10, I upgraded to 10.5 (currently have X10.5.0.60 installed) through the normal update process. Boris Graffiti 7.0 is there.

The reboot helped, but I just locked up VX 2018 with the NewBlue Titler V.

I'm running a course on making videos in a couple of months. It's only a short one but I really hope that these issues are addressed soon. Some students might be using it.

I owe you an apology Scubbie, after reading your post I started digging around the X10 installation files and did indeed find the necessary files for Graffiti 7.0
Not sure why it had not previously installed ( but that's not uncommon with VS) anyway I manually installed it and it is now showing in VSX10.5

It is also available for VS 2018 but you need to manually install, find the Bonus Feature Folder, open the Plugins_X64 folder, then manually install Graffiti_x64_for Corel_2018.exe

FWIW Boris Graffiti installed just fine as part of my original installation of VS 2018.

No problem @RobertOZ. It seems that running both versions of VS on a computer is going to be painful.

I reinstalled VS 2018 and Boris Graffit FX is now present. :?

...however it's no longer available in VS X10 :? :?

I'm going to run that installer to see if it helps, but I'm not too hopeful at the moment.

As I'm typing this VS 2018 has hung, again, whilst I'm playing with the new split screen templates. They look nice and this is something I've wanted to incorporate into a project or two I'm working on. I just hope that this hanging issue is going to be fixed soon.

Hi
I have also checked my X10 for Boris and that is also missing and not showing in the vft_plug folder
I do know that Boris was installed to X10 at one time. Not so long ago

I have now manually installed the plugin

Then had to reset the program by renaming 20.0, now Boris Graffiti shows in the library
C:\Users\Trevor\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\20.0

Post updated

I ran a test to re-install 2018
Installing 2018 Bonus Features – Boris Graffiti is deleted from CVSX10.5

Thanks folks,

After running that install program I have checked and VS 2018 is still showing the Boris Graffiti 7.0 FX, but VS X10 is no longer showing it still.

I guess that there appears to be a flaw in part of the installation process somewhere.

Anyway, I've got to get a few things sorted now as I'm off to the pool shortly. A club Try Dive session. I've someone to take around and may use a camera too. Someone else is videoing and taking pictures in the water and another person is videoing topside.

I need to work out which, if any, of the new features to incorporate. I managed to have a successful play with the one of the split screen templates in the end, so I'll be dropping hints about some framing to make the most of them for certain pieces. I'll play more with the tayloring part at a later date and design some of my own.

Look here for Graffiti7.vft

C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X10\vft_plug

If it does not exist -- install the plugin again (GraffitiCorelX10x64.exe) … from.
…………\64bit\BonusFeature\PlugIns_X64\ GraffitiCorelX10x64.exe

If it does exists go to :-
C:\Users\User name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\20.0

Rename the folder 20.0 to 20.0_old

Start Video Studio X10.
This will reset the program and your library, if you need the library as is, first export as a backup.

Hi Trevor,

As far as this laptop is concerned there is a major issue with Graffiti 7.0, if I install it in VS 2018 it is removed from VSX10.5, if I reinstall it in VSX10.5 it is removed from VS 2018, indicating a major script error.......
And it removes it from the vft_plug as well
