VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
I have just raised this with tech support, but I was wondering if anyone here may have a solution too.
Today I have purchased and installed VS 2018 Ultimate. After a period of time that it took to restore a previous library I went on to see what had been restored. I noted that some transitions I had purchased (NewBlue Motion Blends) are no longer listed at all. They should be on the home page under the 'effects' tab, but this is currently blank. I also selected the 'restore purchases' option and have been unable to restore any purchases.
Any ideas?

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
Others have reported that the Restore Purchase function doesn't work with the Blu-Ray module. Corel is aware of this and working on a fixc.
However, I would not have expected the installation of 2018 to have automatically install/restore NB filters or transitions you purchased in a previous version. Even if you paid an update price for 2018, it is a fully independent install and does not simply install over a previous version. I would first try going back to your NB filter downloads when you first purchased them, and run them again to see if they pick up -- or can be installed in -- 2018.
I suggest this since a long time ago -- possibly around 8 years ago -- I purchased 6 of the NB Essentials packs many of which are now included in recent VS releases. To install the packs which are not included I simply go back to my original downloads of those packs and they all install without problem in the recent versions of VS.

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
I did see the thread about the Blu-ray add-on and contributed to it as I've had experience of this too.
I did manage to "restore" the purchase to an installation of VS X9 even though I purchased it in X10, so I would hope that it isn't blocked in VS 2018. I shall be very "upset".

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
But have you tried actually reinstalling the NB transitions from your original downloaded files?

The download is handled within VS. You don't download it to a separate file which you can copy elsewhere. Whenever I do that I always backup the files.Ken Berry wrote:But have you tried actually reinstalling the NB transitions from your original downloaded files?

Peacecore reports here that the Restore Purchase seems to have been fixed.

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
Thank you Trevor. I get the message for restoring my purchases, I didn't at first, but when I put in the email address I get a prompt advising me that there are no purchases available.
I've had a response from one of the support team. He stated that the purchases for any add-ons made within VideoStudio X10 will not be able to be restored within VS 2018. If this is the case, then I shall start looking for a new video editor as each year they seem to be interested in stopping you from using the extra features you've paid for. This started with the Blu-ray feature.
I have challenged his response on the basis that I made the purchase at the end of last year and that there was not mention that the add-on would not be able to be used with any other future version of VS. Had I known that this would have been the case I would not have purchased the add-on since it was for a project that is in development at this stage and my intention was always to upgrade to VS 2018 (or VS X11 as I thought it might have been called) when it was released.

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
Scubbie,
What kind of In-Product purchases have you tried to restore, and failed? Just BD burning? If others, please advise which.
Also, if you'll please advise your Support case number, so I can take it up directly with the agent and his/her manager.
EDIT: We have made recent changes to In-Product Purchase, and Restore Purchase. If you will please restart VS 2018, and try again?
Yes, VS 2018 users can restore purchases from previous versions.

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
Hello glus,
As mentioned in my first post, I am specifically trying to restore 'NewBlue Motion Blends'.
I haven't tried to restore a template for Fast click yet, but on previous experience this is easy enough to resolve by copying the files into the right folder.

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
The fact that you purchased your New Blue effects from within VS does not alter the fact that somewhere on your computer VS would have installed a copy, that could be in temp files, where I have found VS downloads before, you would need to search every nook and cranny of your system.Scubbie wrote:The download is handled within VS. They have to be there somewhere, your purchase is not restricted to one version but can be copied into any version of VS. Not having purchased New Blue from within VS, all my packages have been purchased over many years, but the New Blue packages can be installed into all other NLEs you may have on your computer, like Adobe, Magix, Sony, CyberLink, Grass Valley the list goes on and I would have thought that should still apply to any purchases you have made from Corel

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
Thank you Ken Berry and RobeertOZ. I have for now managed to get the transitions working within VS 2018.
Not an ideal method, but it works...
First I uninstalled VS X10, leaving the User Data intact.
Next I reinstalled VS X10. Once installed I selected the 'Restore purchase' option to find that it has marked the New Motion Blends as restored.
I didn't need to re-enter the serial number, even though I do have it available.
Next action was to go to the Welcome (homepage) and select the 'Effects' tab. I scrolled down, clicked the button which says "Purchased" and then clicked to reinstall the New Motion Blends pack.
In retrospect I suspect it may be possible to bypass the uninstall and reinstall option and just click the Install button, should anyone else wish to give this a whirl.
There are still some outstanding issues. For a start I am still unable to use the 'Restore Purchase' option within VS 2018. In a few years I'd rather not have to kee VS X10 on my laptop. It's a large download and takes a long time to install. Coupled with whatever other new VideoStudio version comes along, I'd rather keep one on my computer. I do periodically rebuild my laptop so this would be an issue.
I am still unable to see anything listed in VS 2018 under the 'Effects' tab. This needs to be resolved. In VS X10 there are 12 different effets which are no longer available in VS 2018.

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
No problem Ken Berry. The missing effects from the home page are:
NewBlue Video Essentials V
NewBlue Art Effects
NewBlue Paint Effects
NewBlue Video Essentials III
NewBlue Video Essentials VI
NewBlue Film Effects
NewBlue Light Effects
NewBlue Motion Blends
NewBlue 3D Explosions
NewBlue 3D Transformations
NewBlue Art Blends
NewBlue Paint Blends
None of these appear to be available at the present time with VS 2018. They are still available from within VS X10.
I can also confirm that the template I had bought some time back (Squares & Spheres) works perfectly well. It also appears that the templates I created myself are also workig well too. I haven't had time to check over them all yet.

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
These would appear to be your personally owned New Blue Packages, the easiest way to install into VS 2018 is to copy them from the vft__plug folder of VSX10 into the same folder of VS 2018

Re: VS 2018 Unable to restore purchase
I have only ever purchased 'NewBlue Motion Blends'. The whole list is missing from my installation of VS 2018. As mentioned above , I have now been able to fudge the installtion of 'NewBlue Motion Blends'.
