How do I use the Airbrush tool?
When I click the + at the bottom of the tools palette, another tool palette appears with a tick next to each one. How do I either activate one of these tools, or move it to the main palette, or whatever it takes to use one of them. For example, the Airbrush tool. I can't find any tutorial on this.

Re: How do I use the Airbrush tool?
I presume you are using Edit mode and complete workspace . (Check File > Workspace and Complete is ticked rather than Essentials).
The Airbrush is already located associated with the Paintbrush tool.
You can test it out to see its effect by making a new document say white or black then selecting a color and the Airbrush tool and then clicking on your document to see how the color is applied. It is a bit like using a spray can of paint on a piece of cardboard creating a series of tint spots of color on the document. As you keep your mouse button pressed, the color builds up just as with a spray can of paint.
Now a question did you mean a tutorial on the Airbrush or a tutorial on making the other tools active using the Quick Customize + button?
All of those tools are already ticked which means they are already associated with the current tools.
Now look at the Paint Brush tool - click on it and note that the popout shows the Paintbrush and teh Airbrush beneath.
Now click the + Quick customize button and scroll down to the Pauntbrush and untick it. You will find it disappears and now you see only the Airbrush. So It allows you to untick and get rid of (temporarily ) all the tools that you do not use and don't want to have showing.
Just below the Paintbrush on the main toolbar is a series of 12 brushes starting with the Lighten/Darken brush . Say you wanted to make the bottom one Color Replacer visible. You could untick all the others above it in the Quick Customise list or do a customised toolbar View > Customise Click the Toolbars tab, New , name the new toolbar, then you will see a small rectangle with a Close cross top right. You then go back to Commands tab and locate what tools , commands you want and drag them onto your newly named toolbar.
When finished click Close and you will see your new floating toolbar with the tools you want conveniently displayed.

Re: How do I use the Airbrush tool?
Thanks so much for such an informative reply. I unticked Paintbrush and now I can see the Brush tool has been replaced with the Airbrush. Brilliant. One more question though - the Airbrush tool was only an example. How do I know which current tools are associated with the various tools displayed in the Quick Customise list? For example, another tool I want to use is the Smudge tool but don't know which current tool it's associated with so I can untick it in the list. In the meantime I will be looking at the Hlep files you suggested. Many thanks

Most of the tool icons on your toolbar have a small down pointing arrow beside them. Simply click that arrow on all of those tools and then you can start becoming familiar with which other tools are associated with each icon.mollyfinch wrote: How do I know which current tools are associated with the various tools displayed in the Quick Customise list?
