Hi,

Thank you for the updates and advice. I know I will end up buying VS2018 Ultimate, but I will wait until the last day possible...

I don't use it a ton any more so I wait for a better sale. 20% off for repeat customers doesn't make you feel appreciated when you can wait a short amount of time and get a better deal.

If they can't offer a better discount to repeat customers they should create a limited-time pre-release edition bundle that includes some extra effects and filters or credit for buying templates and effects of your choice.

Thanks lata, gewb and DesertSweeper for your responses! I knew about exporting it with audacity, was just hoping for native support in VS2018 :) Since it's not there and the only feature I'm missing with 10.5, I'll probably skip this update.

Again, thank you guys!

Hi Again,

Thank you ONCE again for the updates and advice. However, I am just checking to see if anyone has a link to a better price than $63.99, or has a discount coupon for VS2018 Ultimate, because there are only 8 days left until the last day possible for the current 20% offering...

Corel, like most US companies, do a lot of advertising and their marketing department will no doubt have some great offers to entice people to purchase VS 2018 as a new customer or to encourage those who have earlier versions to upgrade to VS 2018.

Yes I've had a few issues with some early bugs, but as I am typing this I am redering a project recorded on the evening of 10th February. I've been doing this between a few other tasks so I will say it could have been completed sooner, but I have had to reshoot one piece earlier today.

Overall I'm very happy now. Yes the issues I've rasied do need to be fixed and I've another that needs to be fixed. I'm not sure if its an old issue or one I've mmessed up somewhere, so I'm searching this forum before posting more in a suitable thread.

A company such as Corel doesn't pay retail price to license a plug-in so saying that it'd be "1/2 the price" is misleading. Perhaps the next version of VS will update this filter.

True, Corel doens't pay retail price. Mercalli V2 has been around a long time, so the cost would not be great to license, it's a great feature and doesn't cut into profits. It's already "there". But how much more for a new version that they (proDAD) would have to get, in order to make V4 work with VS, and is Corel willing to pay? Corel didn't bother with Mercalli V3. I personally doubt that Corel will entice proDAD to get to make V4 work within VS. It's just my opinion. But, it would be a nice feature....

In frogman's reply, he mentioned Adobe wasn't possible. It is now, and listed for Mercalli V4 as a plugin, along with Magix (both Pro X and MEP), Edius and Vegas Pro (might also possibly work with Vegas Movie Studio?? It's not listed though). Magix Pro and Movie Edit Pro are similar, and I have V4 in MEP Premium 2016. Maybe as frogman posted, not all the features would be available if the plugin made it to VS.... but I don't see how that would be a problem considering it would be loading the software in it's own window like NBFX TP5, Boris and Mercalli V2.
It would be a nice addition though....

Agreed, it is now available for Adobe Premiere Pro, but not for Premiere Elements, price to purchase the plugin US$99 - US$398 depending on plugin options chosen, are you prepared to pay an additional US$99 to upgrade the Mercalli V2 plugin to V4

HEADS UP FOLKS: I upgraded my computer to an Intel i7-7700K on WIndows 7 to avail of the iGPU HWA and Corel no longer works. I asked Corel for assistance and to be fair it is not an "officially" supported platform but they had me try a number of steps - none of which succeeded. So for those of you thinking about buying Corel VS 2018 who do not want to upgrade to Windows 10 and are using the well-published Kaby Lake workaround on Windows 7 - DON'T - it will not work. VS 2018 Crashes on render, if you enable Hardware Acceleration. And of course it is beyond painfully slow without it. Caveat: If you are using an nVidia board and disable the iGPU it should work, though I have not tested that as I am switching to a different product that does work very well with Win7 on Kaby Lake iGPU.

Me personally? No. If I need it, it's not much to spend for "me". V2 works fine for me since I personally, rarely need it. That question should be asked of others who want the latest version of Mercalli. I have proDRENALIN V2 for any action cam footage and Mercalli V4 in Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium. V4 is also available for Vegas Pro, but Vegas Movie is not listed. Professionals and avid enthusiasts will pay the price for plugins they need. Most consumers bulk at paying an upgrade price that is more than the cost of the video editing product itself. I would love for everything, including a kitchen sink, to be included in the software at a price that is inexpensive. But in reality, could it be possible with Corel's business/financial model. Only Corel knows...

Jennifer -- welcome to the forum! And yes, we were working on the supposition that Corel would call the version after X10 -- X11. But they didn't. They called it VS 2018 instead. So please look at all the other comments relating to 2018 to see what people think of it.

If you check close the Mercalli is different from X10.5.
The distort box in 2018 is gone. and the help files are different. What all that means I do not know.
Most of my work is redoing digitized film stock. Very poor camera work and stabilizing produces distortion on the side and sometimes both sides.
I will use X10.5 till I can figure out 2018.

Hi,

If you have an older version of VS simply launch it, and then exit; and you will receive a notice option to upgrade for $29.99. I went specifically to VS9 (I have multiple versions loaded), and I received that same offer of $29.99. So I quickly accepted it, and had no problems following thru with purchasing and downloading the software.

Although during the final installation VS2018 popped up a warning box stating I should call Technical support. I did not, but I have tested the software and it seems to work fine... Great deal considering the other offer was $69.99...
