It's the same as before I believe.. Also, I think COM Surrogate is running to make the 32bit plugin work within the 64bit VS2018. I see V1.03.0 Build 171003 with copyright 2005-2014.
On my system, it's working fine.

Mine is 21.1.0.89 but that is a week or so old now. If you have 92, then Corel must have updated the update SP1 they include in the on-line download/installation of the program.

EDIT: Some very early users of 2018 reported their version number was 84, and Help > About did not indicate any updates were available. However, running the installation stub again detects what has already been downloaded and installed, and looks for updates and installs those. That got their update to version 89.

I have just run the installation stub again but it did not detect any updates this time, and my version remains at 89. So Radim, it would be useful if your number is indeed 92 and the installation process you used which resulted in that update.

A company such as Corel doesn't pay retail price to license a plug-in so saying that it'd be "1/2 the price" is misleading. Perhaps the next version of VS will update this filter.

Can those of you who just purchased/installed VSTUDIO 2018 check help/about and see what version of the software was installed? Just curious.

Thanks,

I asked the Corel tech in charge of VS development was the current number is and he confirms it is 89. It will be interesting, though, if Radim can cast any further light on his earlier question as to whether the current number is 92.

I have 21.1.0.89. Checked for updates and none are available. I did see that a srvice pack was downloaded when I made all the options too.

Can someone who has already upgraded quickly check something for me:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yNePx0 ... sp=sharing
This small file is an mp4 with 2 separate audio tracks. One is containing music, the other me coughing. Does VS 2018 offer the option to access/edit both audio tracks?

many thanks in advance!

It sees it as a stereo track, I split it out and go to Sound Mixer. I do not hear you coughing on either the left or the right channel. Even when I play it through a media-player - both channels have the same music. Left channel sounds a little muted but might be my setup

Your file is an AAC file and I'm not sure how VS handles those. It does play but there is no cough that I could hear - it plays as a stereo track.

>>> HOWEVER <<<

When opened in Audacity (with proper codecs installed) the R-L stereo tracks are available as Index(02) and the cough track as Index(03). Each can be exported and loaded into VS on the Music Track and the Voice Track.

Hi
First MediaInfo recognises the two audio tracks
Video Studio does not support separate audio tracks so show as a single stereo

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 60 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 2072 Kbps, 16:9
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 96 Kbps

I played the clip with various players, all played the song except Windows Media Player which played you coughing.

What player do you use to hear both tracks?

HI,

Still not sure if it is worth it to upgrade. It seems that the best advice to date is, if you like some or all of the new features, then buy it... Having stated that, does anyone have a line on any discount coupons? Typically, every year I purchase the new VS Ultimate, and then a discount coupon come out a week or so later. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

jdowney I would buy it, not for any NEW features but purely because those that already exist actually work now. And this is the first version in a long time that renders properly, every time. It is both stable and faster. I do not need or want "new features". This is what it should have been several years ago.

Corel will refund your purchase within a period of time that I think is 30 days (contact Corel to verify this). If the purchase is cheaper within a week, Corel will adjust what you paid.

Other than that, expecting a discount on a just released program is not realistic. Wait until next year at this time and you can then buy it with fairly good discounts.

Desertsweeper wrote:I have Magix VPX, with the v4 plugin. Aside from a lot more tweak-options the actual footage I get is comparable between Corel's v2 and that. I only got VPX because I could not get Mercalli to work properly in VS10 but I played with action-cam footage this last weekend and compared the output between the two. I cannot tell the difference. I am going to stick with and move back to Corel because it is just a way better interface for me - now that it is stable and works
Got to take what I said back...have spent the day playing with the Mercalli plugin on Corel and VideoPro X and while the stabilisation is comparable (indistinguishable actually), Corel's Mercalli 2 plugin does it at the expense of significantly more border loss. When I render and play them side by side I seem to have lost at least 15% of the border on Corel's file. The settings for each are identical in terms of pan and stabilisation "amount". Can it be that there is some magic in V4?

EDIT: Showing the renders to a group of people, the consensus is that Corel's Mercalli V2 does a better job at stabilising, despite the unexplained more aggressive crop - which would make sense.
