Corel has just advised that they have updated their certificate to Secure. And indeed, now, on Chrome at least, I get the forum on a https:// address and in addition it is now marked as Secure.

So I was wrong about access being stuffed up because of changes to the database.

Hopefully everyone else, on different browsers, will soon be noticing the same thing. Please let us know if you don't. But note you might need to close and reopen your browser and probably have to log in once again. But after that, hopefully you will remain logged in.

Well I was able to get straight into the forum today without having to log in, and the forum loads reasonably fast now on my IE.

I am curious, however, to find out if the security issue being fixed has any effect on the original reason for this thread - i.e., has it helped any of those with theunexpected and quite serious slowdown of PSP launch times that had suddenly affected some PSP users? I wouldn't necessarily expect so but curiosity made me ask. :-)

Thanks for that. However, I think you just put your system drive capacity in the Hard Drive capacity slot, and I suspect you have a lot more hard drive capacity than 128GB. :-)
You're right, sorry (I'm Dutch, and old 8) )

Thanks for the info. I did nothing and still it now works, also on Chrome. I do see the switch to https, so for the browser it's a different site, which must have automatically solved the issue.
Cheers, Frank.

I just did a discovery after restarting PSP X 5 (version 15.0). The startup took exactly 35 minutes......
So I looked in the directory c:\Users\Frank\AppData\Local\Corel PaintShop Pro and found the two directories 15.0 and 2018.
I renamed the directory 15.0 to 15.01 and restarted PSP X 5. It started and gave a message Double directory with 'Stalen' found. I clicked on continue and PSP started in half a minute instead of half an hour.
Closed it and restarted, in 30 seconds ready, without any popups this time :D :D :D
I now see it created a new directory 15.0 on startup.
Frank.

Great, although I can't understand why this would happen unless PSP's having to re-create the directory caused it to reset something. Let us know if it keeps working.

It's the directory where it creates the cache and the thumbnails (among other things). I see the original directory had over 80.000 thumbnails which took 3.9 Gb of space. Perhaps it checks whether the directories are accessable during startup and has problems accessing the NAS-directories and hangs on that. Don't know, in my case, with really extreme startup times, it must be something like that, having to time out on accessing these directories I think.

Next thing I can do is move the 3,9Gb of thumbnails back from the copied directory to the new thumbnails-directory en start PSP again. If it then takes 35 minutes again, I know where it goes wrong in my case.

Cheers.

Please let us know what happens when you move those thumbnails back.

I thought people might be interested to know that I have just installed a Samsung 500 GB SSD and migrated across my Win 10 and Corel products. Start up times are now startling. For PSP, the initial start-up time after rebooting is now only 12 seconds. Secondary start-ups are 8 seconds! 8)

Even booting up the computer now only takes one third the time it previously took.

JoeB might also be interested/pleased to learn I have ditched McAfee on this computer, and installed ESET Smart Security (for which I already had a separate account for a couple of my computers).
