New User PSP 2018 Info on how to use clone tool.

I'm a brand new user of Paint Shop Pro 2018. When I first started using it last week, I used the clone tool successfully. Now suddenly it will no longer act correctly. I right click on the source area, then move to the area to be copied to, left click and nothing happens. I've researched and tried all the suggestions I've found. It may have to do with the settings for the brush, density, transparency etc. but as I make the adjustments, nothing changes. What is so frustrating is that when I first received my software it worked fine. I must have changed something but don't know what it could be. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Could you provide a screenshot of the tool options bar when using the Clone tool so that we can see all of the settings you have? Also, are you working on an image with layers or only a single layer image?

You could try resetting PSP to its default state: hold down the Shift key when you click the desktop PSP icon to open the program. You will get a message asking if you want to reset.

Note that if you have a Customized workspace, you should save this before resetting so you can reopen it after the reset has occurred.

Thank you Ken Berry & JoeB for your responses. I used Ken's suggestion and just reset my software back to it's default state and am starting over. Much better now that I understand a bit more. The clone tool is working as it should now. Thanks for your help.

Before doing a reset of the whole of PSP to default you can also reset many tools to their defaults as well and if just one tool is causing trouble this should be a first option.
For Clone tool:
Top left click the tiny down arrow under Presets and then to the right of the drop down box second button Reset to Default. This will reset just the clone tool to its default values.
