My PC has a Core i5 2500K 3.3Ghz, 16GB RAM, 8GB RX 480 and running 64-bit Windows 10.
My primary goal is to take video captured from an Xbox One X and edit them. The X1X creates MP4s at either:
- 1920x1080 at 29.97 FPS
- 3840x2160 at 60 FPS
VideoStudio will only allow me to import the higher res video into a project as an audio file. I have not figured out how to get it to except a 4K video file. It is my preference to work with at the higher resolution.
I also attempted to use MP4s created from my PC:
- 1920x1080 at 29.99 FPS
So then I captured video of myself using my webcam, which produced a 1920x1080 15.56FPS MP4. Unreadable frame error.
I have found a single video file that works so far, a three-year-old webcam shot that is a 1920x1080 15.60 FPS MP4. Not sure why.
Finally, I tried a video shot on my Android phone. 1920x1080 29.67 FPS MP4. Unreadable frame error. However, it did export to WMV.
To be clear, every video I have tried is not only playable using Win10's built-in Photos and Movies & TV apps, but the Photos app can also edit these videos as well as export them.
The common thread here is MP4 files. VideoStudio won't read 4K versions properly, and refuses to export using that format. AVI mostly failed as well, with WMV giving me a single success. I didn't try the other formats because they are locked behind a paywall.
What am I missing here? Does VideoStudio X10 not work with MP4s or videos in 4K resolution? My computer meets the requirements of the program.
