Pasting as new image in PSP 2018

Post by terrypin »

With PSP 8, with an image on the clipboard, after using Paste as New Image I could drag the window to a preferred position.

In PSP 2018 that leaves a transparent background behind.

What am I missing please?

Go to Window -> Deselect "Tabbed Documents" and this should give you back the windowed mode.

What you've done here is used the pick tool to move the image off the canvas.

Thanks for the fast reply Levi. I'd try that right now - if only I could get PSP 2018 started. :(

Windows 10 Task Mgr says it is - but no window displayed. Behaviour reported in the parallel thread PSP X9 slow start.

Are you running under Win 10?

Not sure what you mean by the reference to the "PSP X9 slow start" thread since that does not appear to have any post by you in it.

But as for opening PSP 2018, have you looked in Task Manager > Background Processes? If Corel PSP is shown there, End the process and try opening PSP again.

Many PSP versions since the JASC days had a small bug where, every so often, after closing PSP there was still an instance being shown in Task Manager that indicated it was running. It has been much less frequent than it was in the old days but still pops up once in a blue moon. So, as Ken said, you have to end that process before starting PSP again.

I suspect that it might happen if you close PSP and then start it again before it has completely unloaded (i.e., while it's cleaning cache, temp files, etc.) but have never experimented to determine whether or not that is at least one cause for the issue.

That fixed it, thanks.
