i5 vs i7

Post by Dirk184 »

I own a new Dell XPS Notebook (i7-7700HQ, NVIDIA GTX 1050 , 16GB , SSD, ....) and I am disappointed with the poor Performance working with VideoStudio x10.
The preview of my imported Clips is not smooth and consistent and i often have Audio-Blobs when I start the preview.
Rendering the Video is OK but it seems to me that VS10 does not use the GPU.
I have no Problems on my old HP-i5 System (no explicit GPU) with the preview window.

Any Suggestions?

Hi

Have you tried using Smart Proxy files, those should improve project playback especially if working with HD files.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming series, similar specs to yours and have no problems with preview playback, all my videos are MP4 1280x720 60fps and I do not find it necessary to enable Smart Proxy

Unfortunately Smart Proxy does not solve the Problem. I try variuos Settings (Hardware accelarition, ...) but nothing Change.
Last Chance: Reinstallation?

@RobertOZ: Does your VS10 Installation use the GPU (Nvidia)?

Hi

Can you give more info regarding your video files, right click a clip and choose properties , what are they?
Otherwise can you provide a sample, you would have to upload to a sharing site, Google Drive etc. then provide a share link on your post.

Where did the videos come from?---Video frim Iphones/tablets may use variable frame rates, video editors find these difficult to edit

Videofile Source is a Canon G7X MarkII Cam.
Standard MP4 Setting: 1920x1080, Bitrate: 35778 kBit/s, 50p
Audio: 132kBit/s, 48 kHz

On my HP i5 PC I have no Problems previewing the identical files.
