possible to import old palettes ("swatches")?

Post by stapel_eliz »

In my old PSP8, when I went to select a color from the "Materials" palette by clicking on the "Foreground" or "Background" properties box, I got a screen that included a color wheel and this nice palette:
old_palette.png
In PSP 2018, clicking on those boxes brings up something... decidedly less helpful. Is there any way I can tweak settings, import old files, etc, to restore this simple old interface (in particular, the helpful shortlist of basic colors, circled above)?

I have managed to locate where Corel stores the "swatch" palettes in PSP 2018:

. . . . .C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018\Corel_14

I was surprised to see that these grids of colors are produced with PspScripts...? The options in the "Materials" palette's pull-down list of "swatches" (I guess?) are displayed in this folder, by name. Is it possible to import other options, which could be added to the pull-down menu?

Thank you! 8)

I have two different options.

1) Turn on Classic Materials Palette - this makes the materials palette look like you remember.
File -> Preferences -> General Preferences
Click on "Palettes" in the list on the left
In the "materials palette" section at the bottom is a checkbox for "use classic materials palette" turn this on and restart PSP.

2) Or remake the swatches in that list and use the swatches view on the materials palette.

Hah! I saw that! I just didn't know a restart was necessary. (I guess that's why nothing changed when I'd tried that option before...?)

Perfect! Thank you! 8)
