I have just found out from the corel video studio help that both X9 and 10 no longer support captue of DV tapes to computers!
Does anyone know of a way to do this.
There must be thousands of user of video Studio that are about to be surprised that they can no longer use their older DV tapes.
DV capture in X9 10 is not now available

Re: DV capture in X9 10 is not now available
Hi
I have not used DV-Avi capture for a long time and no longer have Firewire on my pc.
Although recently I did dig out the Pana DV-Avi camcorder and connected via usb.
I was able to capture DV-AVI using CVSX10, given the faster USB’s I had no dropped frames and as far as I know no audio problems.
There was a windows issue regarding the firewire IEEE codec
Some details from Ken regarding the legacy driver.

But certainly I have not heard that Corel have dropped DV-Avi capture support?
There is also a free program called Win DV, not sure if it is supported by Windows 10

You could try that program.

Re: DV capture in X9 10 is not now available
Hi
I found my old Firewire card, installed to my pc, Device Manager recognised the IEEE card as Texas Instruments, I did not tweak or install anything, simply plug and play.
I was able to capture my Mini DV tapes using CVSX10.
The first time I connected the program crashed, reboot and was ok, did receive one warning about the capture device/capture failed, but think that was my fault as I have not used for a while.
I then continued to capture a series of clip, upto 9 minutes so far.
I also activated Show Drop Frames, I did not have any, so that s good.
I tried WinDV but no go, I do not think that is supported by Windows 10?
DV capture using CVSX10.5 works for me so I do not know what Corel Support is talking about.

Re: DV capture in X9 10 is not now available
Please don't tell my computers that VSX9/10.5 no longer capture Mini DV tapes, I am in the process of transferring and editing dozens of tapes accumulated over the years via 1394 port and it would be a shame if the PC found out it doesn't workextreme10 wrote:I have just found out from the corel video studio help that both X9 and 10 no longer support captue of DV tapes to computers!

Where in the Corel help does it state that DV capture is no longer possible , because in the X10 manual there is a section called Capturing Digital Video (DV) pages 41-49 which comprehensively explain the capture process.
Re: DV capture in X9 10 is not now available
I recently tested VSX10 with a Sony VX-2100 DV standard def camcorder input via firewire and Windows 7 and it worked fine.
