PaintShop Pro suddenly takes forever to start

Post by FreeBud »

Starting a few days ago, my PaintShop Pro takes an insane time of 4:30 minutes (!!) to start. During most of this time the splash screen says 'Updating Cache Settings...' -- No similar problem with any other software -- PLEASE HELP. :(

Details:
Corel PaintShop Pro X9 Version 19.2.0.7 x64 (says it's updated)
Windows 10 Home on hp Pavilion with 8GB RAM on Intel i5 and Nvidia GeForce 940MX

We have had a lot of people saying that PSP has slowed down after the Windows 10 Creators update. That could be your problem. If you have made no changes to how you use PSP or to your use of the navigation panel in Manage mode between the time it worked well and the time it slowed down then it apparently isn't a PSP issue alone.

You might want to read through a discussion of the issue in another recent thread: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 62#p351462

Could it be related to a temporarily low internet connection ? I think PSP checks Corel's server on launch...

I doubt it. It might ping Corel's server, but it will hardly be sending any data. Just a version number or something like that.

It also affected me and I have it blocked by my firewall. I think the real issue was a Windows update.
