The other thing to do is to open those image thumbs in Aftershot Pro whick I think is one of the +(ultimate items) with 2018 - PSP2018_AfterShot3Installer.exe.
Check if the color variation is still there. I think there have been other threads about NEF files not showing true colors in PSP. Not sure if the problem was solved or if the final answer was to process the raw in the native Nikon raw processor.

Hi hartpaul.

I did open them in Aftershot3 (it's actually the 'standard version that comes with PSP2018.. :( ) and they open correctly...as they do in ViewNX2 and Windows Photo Viewer.

Anyway following JoeB's most recent post, I've reinstalled PSP X7 and opened the images again, this is the 4th reinstall and the weird color is still there :!: :?: :!: :?: ) I tried them in all 3 modes, all 3 modes are the same!

Here is the screenshot of the Image Information
Moon_scrn#5_w_ImInfo_resize.jpg
I notice it says that they 'Have been modified'...I don't have a clue what those modifications could be, but perhaps if I could trace the modifications I could revert them back to the originals? Is that possible I wonder? Doesn't it follow that if I had made any modifications permanent by using 'saved as' , those modifications would show up everywhere else, right?

Also, (different item alert!! PSP2018 Clone tool problem!!) FWIW, I tried the clone tool in PSP X7 with a grayscale image and it works perfectly.

I hope this helps,

Thanks again,

MickG

Is your camera one of the ones supported by PSP. What camera is it and you might check the list of supported Nikon cameras - and perhaps contact Corel - how about on their Facebook page to point out how it works in Aftershot but not in PSP.
You might also change the settings in your camera to the smallest image and lowest quality NEF image (and take some more moon images) to make it easier to send samples to Corel or post on line so that others can check it out on various versions of PSP and see if they get the same problem.

Also just a tip about posting images - crop to include only the most important parts. Your last posted image shows the Learning center and full materials and layers palette as well as the left side toolbar and all of the organizer - This full screen capture made it difficult to read the important part which was the image information. We already know that you were using and showing X7 (mentioned in text) so no need to include the very top showing the name of the PSP version.

The most likely way to get the help you're looking for would be to upload one or more of the problem images (or even a couple cropped portions of one or more of the images) in the original format that you are trying to edit.

Posting a "screenshot" in this instance is counter productive if you want answers.
Still learning, but here are a few of my favorite shots: https://www.500px.com/ccjr221

Sorry about the screenshots...as you suspected I was showing the program name and the interface that I was using, thinking that that might be relevant. I'm using a Nikon D750, full frame, 24MP camera and (in this case an 80-400mm Nikkormat lens) no filter...I haven't been able to find a list of supported cameras anywhere, but I can't imagine that this camera wouldn't be supported - one of the best cameras on the planet :D :D :D -
I just tried the 'to remove a color cast...' option in the Smart Photo Fix menu in Adjust mode. It does remove the offending color, but when I 'remove the sampling point' it comes right back!...don't know if that means anything...?

I've spent a long time trying to figure out if there's a 'history' of the 'modifications' that Image Information indicates have been made, but I can't find any such history.

I also experimented in the 'Adjust' mode - in Smart Photo Fix I can remove the color cast by desaturation, and playing with brightness, contrast etc., of course I lose the blue sky, the reason for shooting the pictures in the first place, but I guess no color is better than that horrendous purple...or whatever it is, but see what happens to the image when saved as a .tiff file.
cropresize#1.jpg
(#13) and when I try to upload the image (as per Dijenga's suggestion) resized to 950px and at 100% (#19)...?

Anyway, I'll probably continue to 'experiment' (till I lose my mind completely    ) but I'm leaning towards just putting it all down to some unknown, unfixable corruption somewhere and not opening these files in PSPx7 again!

...but if you can think of anything....

Thanks again

Thanks Dijenga,

Please see my most recent reply to hartpaul.

I'm trying to figure out a way to upload an original file without having to change it, in order to resize it...! Is there a way that I can accomplish that, that you know of ?

Thanks again

Upload it to any number of cloud storage sites, or file sharing sites. I really love my Google Drive. Or Dropbox. Of course if you're not up for creating an account somewhere you can use several websites that allow for sharing files like WeTransfer. Uploadfiles.io etc.

As these aren't forced photo upload sites they won't perform resizing or automated editing. So they should be exactly the same.

It just needs to be a service that allows you to share a link anyone can download from.

MickG I know this is not going to help much but, I have a friend that uses a Nikon D750. She also gets an occasional purple image. Sometimes with flash & sometimes in broad daylight. So far there has been no solution.

Thanks LeviFiction,

I used to have a subscription to a site called Jalbum...I'll check and see the status, perhaps that'll do the job. Update: I just renewed my subscription to Jalbum! Once I figure out how it works (it's been several years since I was on that site) I'll upload the images.

Thanks hartpaul, I never thought to look there...it looks like all Nikon models are supported - (how could they NOT support the best cameras out there :?:    ) - although I must admit, the possibility that I got a lemon has crossed my mind...uploading the images to Jalbum in their RAW unprocessed state jogged my recollection as to how overexposed the original images were out of the camera, and how difficult it was to get the correct exposure; in fact now I think about it I don't think I did get the correct exposure. I had forgotten that I actually did do quite a lot of exposure adjustment in ViewNX2. So I'm going to have to do some more experimenting to make sure there isn't a problem with this camera (I just bought it at the end of November 2017)

Thanks TimW (I think! ) As I said to hartpaul, I'm getting a tad concerned that the problem might be with the camera, or perhaps as Ansel Adams said; the object a foot behind the camera (or something like that) More testing of the camera is definitely called for!!

Again, thanks everyone for your help.
