I installed PSP 2018 Ultimate, both the 32 and 64 bit versions (20.2.0.1) on December 7. I have used both versions, but only the 64 bit version in the last couple of weeks, and the 64 bit program continues to function without problem. Sometime after December 15 and prior to December 29 when I discovered it, however, the 32 bit version stopped opening. There is no reaction to double-clicking short cuts established when I installed the program, or to double-clicking on the x486 Corel PaintShop Pro.exe (file version 20.0.0.2) from the file explorer. Has anyone else had this problem? Corel Support offered only this solution which produced no result:
Let me help you out by giving these following options to troubleshoot the issue.
Close all of your startup programs and leave only the necessary programs. Kindly read and follow the instructions below:
1. Click Start, type msconfig in the search bar then hit Enter.
2. Under Startup tab, click the link to Task Manager and disable all non-Microsoft programs.
3. Go back again to System Configuration window and go to Under Services tab, check the "Hide all Microsoft services" checkbox then click the "Disable all" button.
4. Set the list of services in alphabetical order and then enable all Corel-related services.
5. Click OK. It will prompt you to restart your computer then click Restart.
Delete your temporary files. Here's how to delete them:
1. Press the Windows logo and 'R' on your keyboard to show up the Run window.
2. Type into the search box: %temp%
3. Hit Enter and the Temp directory will open.
4. Hit Ctrl+A on the keyboard to Select All.
5. Hit the Delete key and then press OK or hit Enter to the message asking if you are sure you wish to delete.
6. Skip all files that cannot be deleted (there will usually be about 3 to 5 temp files in use by windows at any given time which cannot be deleted).
7. Close out of the temp directory.
Is there anything else I can do other than uninstalling and reinstalling the entire program? (I suspect it's not possible to uninstall merely the 32 bit program.)
Thank you for any suggestion you can offer!

Try resetting the 32 bit version. Hold down the Shift key when you click on the desktop icon to open it. You should get a message indicating you would be resetting it to its original condition and asking you to OK it.
If you have established a customized workspace in the 64 bit version, you might want to save that first as I am pretty sure resetting the 32 bit version will also reset the 64 bit version, and thus anything customized there would be reset too.

Isn't it surprising Ken, that this was not one of the first solutions proposed by Corel.
Perhaps they need to do some inservicing with their help lines to be sure they are all on the same page.

Hmm. I'm sure I already wrote and submitted a reply, but it doesn't appear on the board. Again, thank you for the response. Although Corel never suggested it, I did reset the PSP program before I emailed Support, but it had no effect. The 32 bit version still fails to open, but the 64 bit version remains still functional. It seems that uninstalling/reinstalling may be my last resort.Ken Berry wrote:Try resetting the 32 bit version. Hold down the Shift key when you click on the desktop icon to open it. Re: PSP 2018 32 bit version no longer opens
After advising Corel Support (as requested) that their email response to my issue did not work, I've heard nothing further, and I've concluded only uninstalling and resinstalling offers the possibility of having the 32 bit version operational. Thank you for your attention!
