I still use PaintShop Pro 7 (I know, it's old, but it does wat I want). It works perfectly in Windows 10 (64 bit) and until recently, I was perfectly able to use Canon Scangear from my CanoScan Lide 90 scanner.
But since a few days, when I want to import from my scanner, I can only use "WIA-Canoscan lide 90" as source, which has far less options than when I was able to use the native Scangear from Canon. In Photshop, I also have the WIA-Canoscan option, but still just "CanoScan Lide 90" which gives me the scangear dialog. I have no clue why this suddenly stopped working in PaintShop Pro 7, while a few days ago this was working perfectly. Nothing special has been installed in the meanwhile, so I guess it has to do with a Windows update or something like that?
Somebody that has suggestions on having "CanoScan Lide 90" available again as Twain source, so I can use Scangear again instead of the generic, option-poor, WIA dialogue?

Re: Scangear not working with PaintShop Pro 7 and Windows 10
Some extra info: in the meanwhile I tried uninstalling PSP7 and install it again. When I then ran PSP7 (directly after installation), "CanoScan LiDE 90 13.0 (32-32)" was available again as scanner (and worked perfectly with Scangear). However, when closing PSP7 and restarting it, "CanoScan LiDE 90 13.0 (32-32)" was gone again in the source dialogue.
I tried starting PSP7 in compatibility mode (WindowsXP) and then "CanoScan LiDE 90 13.0 (32-32)" was available again (and working). When starting PSP7 normally, "CanoScan LiDE 90 13.0 (32-32)" was gone again. So I could run PSP7 in compatibility mode, but then I got this annoying confirmation message from Windows when starting it up. A few days ago, everything worked without starting PSP in compatibility mode, and I'd like to have it like that again... All tips are welcome!

Tom -- while I think you have been clear, can you please confirm that you are really talking about the very old PSP 7 from Jasc days, and not PSP X7 from Corel?
I ask since I have an even more ancient Canoscan LIDE 25 (32-32). Yet this is consistently seen by successive 32 bit versions of PSP that I have on this computer (from X6 up to the present PSP 2018) as a valid and working TWAIN source. I've just tested it again on PSP 2018 and it's working fine as a TWAIN import.
I realize that Jasc PSP 7 would be 32 bit, but recent Corel PSP versions, as you know, come in both 32 and 64 bit versions. So if in fact you have X7 as opposed to 7, and inadvertently opened the 64 bit version, your Canoscan 90 (32-32) would not be seen as a TWAIN source.

Good question. I'm indeed talking about the old Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 (so 32 bit), not Corel PSP X7.
Also tried Paint Shop Pro 8 (Jasc) and had the same problem (with same solution: Canoscan available in Windows XP compatibility mode, not when starting normally). Also here the Canoscan is available right after installation of PSP8, and gone again after closing PSP8 and starting it again.

Re: Scangear not working with PaintShop Pro 7 and Windows 10
Mmm, not a lot of tips, it seems... For now, I do it like this:
1. Copied the psp.exe in the program folder and renamed it "psp-scan.exe"
2. Created a second shortcut on my desktop called "PSP for Scanning", pointing it at the new .exe.
3. Changed the icon of the shortcut to that of a scanner.
4. Changed the compatibility setting for the new shortcut / exe.
So now when I just want to use PSP, I click the normal PSP icon (which does not give me the annying pop up I talked about). When I want to scan, I click the "PSP for scanning" one. A bit of a workaround that works for me, but it would be nicer if all just worked like a few weeks ago... If it stopped working due to a Windows 10 update, I'm afraid I'm screwed, but I still hope someone on this forum comes with a brilliant solution to get it working again without having to start PSP 7 in Windows XP compatibility mode.
